  • 🍇 🍷 🇺🇦 Wines of Ukraine at ProWein 2025! Bolgrad Winery (Odesa region) is a perfect example of how deep-rooted viticultural traditions and cutting-edge technologies can come together to craft high quality wines. Located in a favorable climate zone with minimal rainfall and hot summers, Bolgrad’s vineyards provide ideal conditions for bold grape varieties, especially reds. This results in wines with intense structure, full extractability, and firm tannins that age beautifully. The region’s unique terroir benefits from the salinity of the Black Sea and the cooling influence of Lake Yalpug. Bolgrad cultivates a diverse range of grapes, including the classic Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Grigio, Muscat Ottonel, as well as the local white Sukholymansky and Ukraine’s flagship red, Odesa Black. 🍷 What does the Bolgrad team recommend to taste at ProWein? “We’re excited to share some of our finest creations — our Select and Reserve collections. Among them, two true gems stand out: Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon and Grand Reserve Chardonnay, which have earned their place among the elite of Ukrainian winemaking, making it into the Top 24 wines selected by Masters of Wine. We’re also incredibly proud that our Grand Reserve Chardonnay received high praise from renowned wine critic James Suckling, who gave it 90 points — it’s a testament to its world-class quality.” 🍷 Just taste it! Janina Doyle is the host of the highly acclaimed Eat Sleep Wine Repeat podcast, which has been featured in Decanter and Radio Times — blending travel, deep dives for WSET Diploma students, and relaxed, approachable topics that make wine enjoyable for everyone. 🍇 🍷 🇺🇦 Very recently Janina decided to feature Ukrainian wines on her podcast, discovering our unique terroirs and local grape varieties, such as Odesa Black, Telti-Kuruk and Sukholymansky. “Having tasted Ukrainian wines, I know the quality is there — they deserve to be discovered and appreciated. But beyond that, it’s about shining a light on the incredible resilience of the people behind these wines. In the face of unimaginable hardship, continuing their craft while missile sirens wail, all while worrying for their families and their future, Ukrainians still find a way to make wine. In Ukraine, every bottle is a testament to human strength, hope, and the unwavering desire to create something beautiful, even in the darkest of times. Sharing their story is not just about wine — it’s about celebrating the unbreakable spirit of humanity.” Thank you for your support and appreciation of the amazing Ukrainian wines, dear Janina! Together we stand! 💛 💙 Links to podcasts on Ukrainian wines (part 1 and 2) in comments.

  • February 24, 2025, marks three years since the beginning of russia’s full-scale military aggression against Ukraine. This is a horrific phase of the war that has, in fact, been ongoing since 2014, since the annexation of Ukrainian Crimea and the occupation of Ukrainian Donbas. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has been supporting us throughout this difficult time, helping Ukraine not only defend its independence but also stand against evil on behalf of the world. We sincerely thank all our colleagues and partners from around the globe for supporting Ukrainian winemaking, for every positive review, for every bottle of Ukrainian wine you have purchased and recommended to others. Everything you do for us contributes to our shared and great Victory. Thank you! Photo: Arsen Fedosenko. 💔 In loving memory of our colleague Arsen, a talented photographer, artist, and winemaker who lost his life in battle near Vovchansk on June 10, 2024.

  • 🍇 🍷 🇺🇦 Wines of Ukraine at ProWein 2025! Villa Tinta wines are crafted at one of Ukraine’s oldest family wineries, founded 25 years ago in the heart of the Danube Bessarabia (PDO Yalpuh). That same year, 517 hectares of vineyards were planted along the shores of Lake Yalpuh. The winery cultivates Ukraine’s signature local varieties: Odesa Black, the country’s most renowned red grape, and Sukholimansky, a distinctive white variety. Konstantin Tintulov, co-owner of Villa Tinta, shares: "These grape varieties were born in our vast steppes. Our wines fully express the potential of our region and our unique terroir. You’ll taste the true essence of the Danube Bessarabia — old vines, rich minerality, and intricate flavours — along with the loving touch of our family in every sip of Villa Tinta wines."  Wines to taste at ProWein: 🍷 Odesa Black VIP Collection 2019 – Aged for six months in oak, this wine boasts deep aromas of prunes, dark berry preserves, black chocolate, and spices. Rich in Bessarabian sunshine, it’s both bold and elegantly refined.  🍷 Odesa Black Premium Collection 2020 – Velvety, full-bodied, and complex, with silky tannins and notes of dark berries and spices, reminiscent of homemade plum jam. 🍷 Sukholimansky Premium Collection 2023 – Crisp and refreshing, bursting with floral and herbal aromas from the Bessarabian steppes, accented by hints of peach and citrus. Just taste it! 🍷 🇺🇦 March 16-18, 2025 Messe Düsseldorf Wines of Ukraine: Hall 9, Stand A89

  • 🍇 🍷🇺🇦 Wines of Ukraine at ProWein 2025 Nestled in the Kyiv region, BIG WINES is a young and ambitious winery already boasting several prestigious national and international awards, including Decanter Awards, MUNDUS VINI and Berliner Wine Trophy. Their vineyards in Odesa region (south of Ukraine, Black Sea coast) span 87 hectares, with an additional 10 hectares set aside for future plantings. Among their greatest sources of pride are the 40-year-old vines of Telti-Kuruk, a unique Ukrainian indigenous white grape — an impressive age, given Ukraine’s history of Soviet-era suppression and Gorbachev’s anti-alcohol campaigns. Here’s what Natalia Burlachenko, CEO of Big Wines, recommends to taste at ProWein: Sukholymansky 2024 – a refined white wine of the latest vintage, made from the local white grape, Sukholymansky — fresh and elegant. Telti-Kuruk 2024 – this indigenous white variety comes in two expressions: — oak-aged: complex aroma, deep, rich flavor — a wine for true connoisseurs. — unoaked: light, aromatic, with a bold character and distinct minerality. Pinot Noir Rosé 2024 – a delicate and refined rosé, captivating, sophisticated, of a stunning color. Odesa Black Aged (vintages 2020, 2021, 2022) – a multilayered, velvety red with a terroir-driven character, made from Ukraine’s most famous Odesa Black grape also grown in the south of Ukraine. A special touch: The labels of Odeskyi Chornyi feature fragments of Awakening, a masterpiece by legendary Ukrainian artist Ivan Marchuk. #prowein2025 #prowein #proweintradefair #winebusiness #wineprofessionals #winetasting #wineshop #winetrends #tradefair #winetrade #winecommunity #winetradefair #overseas #international #internationalexhibitors #exhibitors #winesofukraine #ukrainianwines #ukraine
