On November 5, 2024, ASIGMA hosted industry leaders, policymakers and development partners at the Market Systems Development Convention 2024, discussing this year’s theme: “Leveraging Technology and Finance to Enhance Market Participation.”   With a dynamic lineup of panels and thought leaders, the day was filled with impactful insights, emphasising the roles of financial mechanisms and digital platforms in expanding market participation and strengthening economic participation for our communities including the #underservedcommunities.   Our Managing Director, David Nanambi Wakyiku, set the stage by framing the #MSD approach as essential to achieving sustainable development, stressing how strategic partnerships are a catalyst for long-term growth.   The Access to Finance panel explored ways to widen #financialinclusion, with discussions around models that empower women, youth and smallholder farmers to overcome barriers in accessing funds. Panelists, including industry experts from Financial Sector Deepening Uganda (FSD Uganda), Association of Microfinance Institutions of Uganda and the Uganda Bankers' Association, highlighted the need for finance solutions that support both #economicstability.   Technology took center stage, where our expert panel examined the interplay between #technology and market participation, particularly through user-centric digital solutions. Technology’s role was positioned as an enabler of #marketparticipation, with insights into how thoughtful, user-driven technological designs can support sustainable development.    As we look ahead, we are energised by the collaborative spirit and the thought-provoking discussions that unfolded around the intersection of finance and digital innovation.
