As the East Africa Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) Project unfolds, the voices of those living in/within Oil communities are more crucial than ever. Our "Voices Unleashed" Project Team interacted with some of the residents from Hoima and Buliisa Districts, Uganda who expressed their deep concerns about the Project. Food security, not oil security! We use our land to feed our people, how will oil feed us. (Atugonza Agnes from Kigaaga village). Community rights, not corporate rights! Whenever we want to talk our issues, the security agencies and the oil workers scare us away. Please listen to our concerns about the ongoing oil projects. (Yet another resident of Kigaaga Village who requested to remain anonymous). Hear more of their Voices in the Slides attached. Despite their concerns, the stories of resilience and resistance of these communities shine through. It is time to listen. We urge policymakers, investors, and stakeholders to prioritize the voices of local communities. Their concerns and experiences are important in shaping a project that respects both people and the planet. Let's work in solidarity towards a future that honors their rights, respects their land, and prioritizes the health of our planet! #My Story My Voice #voicesfromoilcommunities #environmentaljustice #justtransition #sustainablefuture #communityfirst #VoicesUnleashed #ActNow
