At Joy for Children Uganda JFCU, advocating against child marriage is a top priority. JFCU petitioned Parliament to address its devastating effects: trapping girls in poverty, denying them education, and increasing health risks for mothers and children. These consequences impact not only individual lives but also Uganda's progress toward key Sustainable Development Goals. Together with communities, we strive to challenge and change harmful beliefs, practices, and traditions that push girls into marriage. Follow us to keep up with our mission! #EndChildMarriage #GirlsNotBrides #EducationForAll Together for Girls Girls Not Brides: The Global Partnership to End Child Marriage Child of Hope Uganda

During a recent interview with our founder, Moses Ntenga, we asked: What inspired you to do this work? “I grew up in the countryside in a place near the well-known town of Fort Portal, which has since been transformed into a vibrant tourism city. This is where I spent my childhood and completed all my early education before moving to Kampala, the capital of Uganda, to pursue university studies. Growing up in the countryside presented many challenges, particularly for children from underprivileged communities. I witnessed peers who were unable to continue their education and saw the struggles faced by young girls, many of whom became pregnant at an early age. Some classmates got married young and never had the chance to further their education. These challenges affected families across the board, both the rich and poor, in similar ways.” -Moses Ntenga #ChildMarrriage #Leadership #Kabarole #Education. Education is pivotal to Uganda's economic transformation. According to the United Nations, #education is key in reducing #poverty. An educated community often enjoys better economic opportunities. Recent efforts by UNICEF and the Global Partnership for Education have focused on improving access and quality. UNICEF aims to help 800,000 more children complete primary #school, while the Global Partnership is working to remove financial barriers for impoverished families. These initiatives highlight Uganda's commitment to using education to combat poverty. On #InternationalMigrantsDay, Dec 18th, we celebrate the economic, social, and cultural contributions of migrants. This day also is meant to raise awareness of the injustices experienced by migrants. Due to lack of job prospects and limited economic opportunities, many Ugandans migrate within and from Uganda. With this comes greater risk of health and safety issues, especially for women and children. Joy For Children Uganda advocates for the rights of Ugandan and international migrants by providing access to basic needs, assistance with education, and empowerment through financial literacy and skill-building. #Leadership that drives transformation! 🌍✨ This month, we’re celebrating Moses Ntenga, the Founder of Joy for Children Uganda, whose visionary leadership is changing lives. Moses’ #advocacy for community protection in the World Bank-funded Kamwenge–Fort Portal Road Project sparked groundbreaking reforms. His efforts led to investigations into the project’s impacts, including child protection in Environmental and Social Impact Assessments and stronger safeguards in road construction projects. Thanks to his persistence, the Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) now prioritizes community involvement, and the World Bank requires community protection measures in its contracts. Moses’ work has improved lives in Uganda and is a powerful example of how one leader’s vision for #justice can inspire systemic change worldwide.
