About us
The Laudato Youth Initiative takes its name from Pope Francis' encyclical letter "Laudato Si'," which emphasizes the interconnectedness of all living beings and calls for urgent action to safeguard our common home. This youth-led Initiative aims to raise environmental awareness, inspire action, and foster a sense of responsibility among young people in Schools, Universities/Colleges, and Parishes in Uganda and beyond.

Laudato Youth: Pilgrims of Green Hope #jubileeyear2025 Jubilee Year 2025 – Pilgrims of Hope. Have you thought about delving into understanding more about the Jubilee Year? Well A Jubilee Year is traditionally proclaimed by the Universal Church every 25 years. It is a particular year set aside to encourage the faithful to embark on pilgrimages, to repent of their sins and forgive the sins of others, and to renew a focus on the spiritual life. In the Hebrew tradition, as recorded in Leviticus, a Jubilee was celebrated every 50 years with the freeing of slaves and the forgiveness of debts. In 1300, Pope Boniface VIII instituted the first Christian Jubilee, and since then the Church has designated each new Jubilee as a special year of grace and forgiveness, offering the faithful an opportunity to obtain a plenary indulgence. The 2025 Jubilee will be centered on the theme “Pilgrims of Hope.” As His Holiness Pope Francis so beautifully expressed it: “We must fan the flame of hope that has been given us, and help everyone to gain new strength and certainty by looking to the future with an open spirit, a trusting heart and far. Laudato Youth are all out for the Jubilee year with a theme; Pilgrims of Green Hope. Stay tuned for more.. Kisembo Immaculate Sarah Kirikumwino

Laudato Youth Initiative reposted this
In the recently Published Eastern Breeze Magazine by Holy Cross Lake View S.S.S Wanyange Our Laudato Youth and Mentors featured amazing articles amplifying voices for the care of Creation. With learning institutions like Holy Cross we have stepped forward to raise youth voices and enhance care for creation, ecological research and sustainable innovations through STEM education programs and enhancing the New Curriculum through our hands on student based school sustainability projects. Institutions of learning must take advantage of the new curriculum to foster hands on ecological education as a value. Augustine Bahemuka Sarah Kirikumwino
