Earlier in the day, we were delighted to have an epic visual storytelling masterclass led Karl Shakur. He shared insider tips on brand collaboration, capturing global narratives, and transforming creativity from a pro who's worked with Ray Ban, Canon, and Mercedes. He shared lots of game-changing insights at our MCI Media Hub ! 🎥✨

We've just wrapped up an insightful and engaging session with the amazing digital storyteller @KarlShakur who shared his remarkable journey from a bored architecture student to a celebrated digital storyteller. His visit to our newsroom was an educational masterclass. Our Switchers @MorganWagaba and @MelissaAmpumuza delved deep into the art of digital creation, discussing everything from the importance of consistency, and personal expression, to the power of authenticity in telling stories.

🗺️ What stories would YOU tell about #Uganda ? Last year, our 26 #MediaFellowshipUG dove deep into solutions-based journalism in shedding light on the resilience and resourcefulness of migrants and refugees in Arua and surrounding areas. Through their reporting, our fellows contributed to a broader understanding of these pressing issues and amplified voices that are frequently marginalized. You can watch the stories here https://lnkd.in/dqMSKUWV for inspiration. In 2025, it could be YOUR turn to: - Uncover untold stories on any niche in any part of #Uganda - Transform data into compelling visuals for your project - Give voice to changing communities - Shape the national conversation The Media Challenge Fellowship gives you hands-on training, mentorship and professional support to produce journalism that matters. Ready to tell tomorrow's stories? Apply for the 2025 #MediaFellowshipUg https://lnkd.in/dvwfwgdf

Caroline Asiimwe’s efforts to protect Uganda’s endangered species have earned her the prestigious TWAS-Samira Omar Prize. This award honors scientists from countries with emerging economies who create innovative solutions to global challenges. A veterinarian and conservation leader, Asiimwe has transformed poachers into eco-guards, engaged refugees, and empowered youth in forest-edge communities to join the fight against poaching and habitat loss. Her work is safeguarding Uganda’s mountain gorillas, chimpanzees, and biodiversity while providing sustainable livelihoods for local communities. With over 26,500 species facing extinction worldwide, Asiimwe’s story shows how one person’s commitment can spark impactful change. Follow Caroline’s example and join her movement for wildlife conservation to protect biodiversity for future generations.
