At Nama Wellness, we believe that the professionalisation of Community Health Workers (CHWs) is key to achieving quality community health care services. As we start 2025, we are excited to have a refresher training for the CHWs that we support in Mukono district! During this training, they will enhance their skills in: ✅ Integrated Community Case Management (iCCM) ✅ Disease surveillance ✅ Accurate and timely reporting using the Electronic Community Health Information System By investing in regular training, we empower CHWs to continue delivering exceptional care and building healthier communities. All girls aged 9–14 years should be vaccinated against the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). This protects against HPV infection, which can lead to the development of cervical cancer and other HPV-related cancers. We successfully concluded a two-day strategic plan review workshop at Ridar Hotel, Seeta-Mukono. This workshop marked a pivotal moment as we assessed two years of progress under our 2023-2028 strategic framework. The review was instrumental in adapting to the rapidly evolving healthcare landscape, ensuring our approaches remain aligned with emerging community health challenges and opportunities. The Village Health Team (VHT) from Nama Wellness Centre, Uganda demonstrates how they track immunizations and zero dose children in the community with OpenSRP 2 to Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance CEO Sania Nishtar and Ministry of Health - Uganda's Diana Atwine and Henry Mwebesa

At the celebration of 50 Years of the Expanded Program on Immunisation event held at Katoogo HC III, Kateregga Rodrick, a ProCHW we support demonstrated to the Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance CEO, Dr Sania Nishtar and other development partners how the electronic Community Health Information System (eCHIS) has enhanced their efficiency and impact. This digital tool has proven invaluable in registering and tracking children for immunization while identifying zero-dose children in the community, thereby addressing gaps in immunization coverage. The demonstration highlighted the vital role of digitization in improving healthcare delivery at the community level. Thanks to UNICEF Uganda ’s support, CHWs in Mukono District have been empowered with the tools needed to streamline their work and ensure no child is left behind in the immunization process. This initiative exemplifies the importance of leveraging technology to strengthen health systems and improve outcomes, reaffirming our commitment to community-centered healthcare solutions. Uganda joined the world in celebrating 50 years of Expanded Programme on Immunization at Katoogo HC III, Mukono District. The event, graced by the CEO of Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance , Dr. Sania Nishtar, highlighted the incredible milestones achieved in improving health outcomes through immunization. We are privileged to share that NAMA WELLNESS COMMUNITY CENTRE (NAWEC) was recognized for the significant contribution to the success of immunization services in Uganda! Through our Community Health Workers (CHWs) program, we have empowered CHWs to actively make referrals for immunization, ensuring that children receive life-saving vaccines. In addition, one of the CHW we support (Mr. Kiddawalime Godfrey) was also honored for his outstanding dedication to promoting immunization in his community. This recognition reflects the tireless efforts of CHWs, who are at the forefront of strengthening health systems and achieving better health for all. The award for Nama Wellness, presented by Dr. Sania Nishtar was received by our Executive Director, Pauline Picho Keronyai, marking a milestone in our journey toward a healthier Uganda.
