This week, Reform Africa had the incredible opportunity to present at the AISA GISS (Association of International Schools in Africa Global Issues Service Summit), where over 25 international schools from across Africa gathered to explore the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). At Reform Africa, we are deeply committed to SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production. During the summit, we shared insights on how we transform plastic waste into valuable products, helping to reduce pollution while creating economic opportunities. Beyond the presentation, we took the learning from theory to action! ✔️ Morning landfill visit – witnessing firsthand where Kampala’s waste ends up, reinforcing the urgent need for better waste management solutions. ✔️ Plastic recycling workshop – guiding students through the process of upcycling plastic waste into tote bags and toiletry bags. Seeing their creativity and enthusiasm was truly inspiring! ✔️ Empowering former waste pickers – We were honored to be joined by the women from Kitezi Good Samaritan, most of whom are former waste pickers from the landfill. They also learned plastic recycling skills, equipping them with the ability to create a sustainable income. This experience reaffirmed that education and skills training are powerful tools for change. By equipping young minds and marginalized communities with knowledge and practical skills, we are shaping a more sustainable and inclusive future. ♻️🌍

We successfully had an experiential training on waste management in Entebbe Municipality through Bosch Alumni Network. We had the privilege of engaging a diverse group—women, men, and youth—each taking a hands-on approach to sustainability by creating their own recycled bags. This training follows a community “Baraza” that underscored the urgency of addressing waste as a climate action strategy. The Baraza discussions highlighted that improved waste management could be a vital, low-cost tool in mitigating and adapting to the impacts of climate change facing Entebbe. Our goal was not only to teach techniques for turning waste into useful products but also to inspire ongoing change. By equipping local leaders with the skills to train their communities, we’re fostering a ripple effect of sustainable practices. Reform Africa is committed to driving impactful, community-centered climate solutions. We’re grateful for partnerships that bring these initiatives to life and empower our communities to tackle waste management challenges head-on. #Sustainability #ClimateAction #WasteManagement #CircularEconomy #ReformAfrica #Entebbe #EmpoweringCommunities

We’re thrilled to see our recycled plastic planters making an impact in education! Recently, a client used our eco-friendly planters to introduce students at the French School in Kampala to the world of urban gardening. During this interactive session, the kids planted vegetables and spices and learned about sustainable practices firsthand. It was inspiring to watch young minds get excited about growing their own food and understanding the importance of recycling. Our planters are more than just products—they’re tools for environmental education and empowerment. Made from upcycled plastic waste, they help reduce waste while teaching the next generation about sustainability. Ready to bring sustainability into your space? Discover how our planters can transform gardens, classrooms, and communities. 🌍🌱 #SustainableLiving #UrbanGardening #EcoEducation #RecycledPlastic #ReformAfrica
