✨ Client Highlight: Congratulations to the Uganda Bankers' Association (UBA) on an impactful 2024 Women’s Economic Empowerment (WEE) Forum! In October 2023, UBA launched the Women Economic Empowerment Initiative (WEEl) at their inaugural WEE Forum. The initiative was unveiled as a key pillar of UBA's ESG strategy, to serve as a focal point for addressing the myriad of issues that hinder the progress of women in the banking/financial sector, as well as those who venture into entrepreneurship. WEEI was established with a bold mission: to break down barriers to financial inclusion and leadership for women in Uganda’s banking and financial sectors and through this critical initiative, the UBA has been working to create a more inclusive financial industry where women have the skills, resources, and opportunities to lead and thrive. The Mkutano Company has been honoured to help conceptualise and drive this initiative, supporting a platform that empowers women professionals, leaders, and entrepreneurs. Under the initiative we have led engagement efforts, focusing on curating events that not only highlighted female leadership but also fostered inclusive growth through dialogue, actionable solutions and partnerships. Our work has included convening discussions that address structural challenges, fostering knowledge-sharing sessions, and building strategic partnerships that strengthen women’s economic inclusion. Most recently, we are proud to have curated the 2024 WEE Forum under the theme: “Accelerating Female Leadership for Gender-Inclusive Financial Services.” Through discussions and panels, this year’s forum tackled pressing topics such as responsible finance, financial literacy, access to capital, and the evolving role of female leaders in shaping Uganda’s financial landscape. Our journey with the UBA and WEEI has been a rewarding experience, marking significant steps forward in promoting women’s financial empowerment. We carry forward the values and learnings from our collaboration, reinforcing our commitment to advancing sustainable and inclusive development across Africa. Thank you to all the partners and participants who have joined us in this vital work. We look forward to more impactful initiatives in the future. #WEEForum2024 #SustainableGrowth #SDG5 #WomenInFinance #Inclusivefinance National Social Security Fund USAID Uganda Visa
