About us
Women Solidarity Initiative Uganda is a dynamic young women-led African Feminist and women’s rights community formed in 2023 in Uganda as a non-profit dedicated to advancing the rights of African women and girls and advancing gender equality through tackling intersectional women’s rights issues, and dismantling systemic and socio-cultural barriers and norms that stand in the way of women’s and girls’ full enjoyment of their rights. We are part of the wider eco system of the women’s rights movement in Uganda; with an intentional vision to become part of eco-system of the women’s rights movement in Africa. We employ an intersectional African Feminist approach to the work that we do, and we are focused on tackling the deep rooted causes of inequality and oppression for women and girls. Our interventions therefore deliberately seek to identify the root causes of various forms of power and oppression and innovatively devise strategies to dismantle and reconstruct these systems of power and oppression and to bridge the inequality gap. Mission: Advancing gender equality, and the rights of women and girls through building an inclusive African feminist community anchored in solidarity and resilience. Vision: An inclusive African society where women and girls enjoy full and equal rights, opportunities, and freedoms.

On 6th March we had the incredible opportunity to participate in the Women in Business Summit - Uganda organized by Zoho Africa , and what an enriching experience it was! At #womensolidarityinitiative , we're dedicated to empowering women-led businesses through our Economic Empowerment Program, and this summit has equipped us with invaluable skills to further support and nurture their growth. We also had the opportunity to learn about Zoho's wonderful services. From insightful sessions on business management to networking with inspiring leaders, we've gained a wealth of knowledge that we can't wait to put into action.

At #womensolidarityinitiative we are all about young women; young talent, young skills! We met with a very skilled and talented young woman who will be crafting reusable sanitary pads for our vulnerable beneficiaries in school. We are all about sustainable interventions and reducing the dependability on us by our beneficiaries, therefore, she will also be training our beneficiaries on how to make reusable sanitary pads so that they don't have to rely on us every time they need pads. We are confident that this initiative will foster school retention since many girls drop out of school because of failure to afford sanitary towels
