𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗟𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗹𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗺🌟 Together with our friends at the Pilgrim center for reconciliation Uganda PCR UGANDA, we threw a Christmas party with the 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗮𝘆𝗼 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: an incredible organization dedicated to uplifting Persons with Albinism and other vulnerable individuals. Beyond cake cutting, and performances, we gifted sewing machines, sunglasses, sunscreen, caps, clothing and we shared a wonderful feast together! With happy faces all around, we left with hearts full of gratitude and a strengthened belief in partnering with locally grounded organizations that create the impact we want to see.💚❤️ Over the past months, we’ve partnered with the #MatayoFoundation to provide women with #hairdressing training, and distributed Mama kits + Hygiene kits to mothers and adolescent girls. As we step into the new year, we’re excited to continue this #partnership and amplify the incredible work they do for their community.🌟 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗷𝗼𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻! 🎁 Matayo Twinomujuni

After yesterday's successful launch, unveiling and signing contracts with the twelve LEAD project implementing partners, today Woord en Daad together with the twelve partners met with honourable Hilary Onek, the Minister for Relief, Disaster Preparedness and Refugees. Also in attendance was Mr. Okello Patrick, the commissioner in charge of refugees in the office of the Prime Minister of Uganda. The meeting was convened by the minister to have a deeper reflection on critical considerations, enablers and available opportunities for a successful implementation of the LEAD project. Jacob J. Vreugdenhil the Woord en Daad Director emphasised the need to look at the wider system approach, with government's mandate to bring all efforts together to align with the vision of the sector. He added that Woord en Daad will be there to listen carefully and to act. The commissioner Mr. Okello's message was about coordination and closer collaboration between the Ministry, Woord en Daad and the local implementing partners. He called on for more support towards government of Uganda's efforts to cope with the increasing number of refugees. The minister encouraged the LEAD partners to promote, enable and empower refugees and host communities to have some skills to do business, competency to undertake some jobs, manage money and volatile environment in business. He called on the LEAD partners to link vocational skilling centers with Secondary schools and communities. These will empower both refugees and host communities to be productive. He committed to link the LEAD partners to existing government programs. The 12 LEAD partners were all in appreciation of Woord en Daad for the journey they have moved together so far and they are very positive of the impact the LEAD project will have on the refugees and host communities in Uganda. LEAD partners now feel fully prepared to start implementation come January 2025.
