Provide employees with effective training on safety procedures and equipment use. 💎 Quality of product and information - Ensure regular inspection points and feedback loops available between internal supplier and customer. 🗺️ Layout Design - Consider effective flow of materials, space utilisation, and flexibility for change to varying conditions. 🗺️ Workstation Design - Consider ergonomics and a standard way of working. Is the gaming industry turning a corner? 👾 Whilst the double digit growth, experienced around the pandemic, may be a challenge for many, recent reports from Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and Xsolla have highlighted key points to suggest there maybe cause for optimism. 💹 Konami has released its financial results for the nine months ending December 31, 2024, during which revenues increased 22% to ¥310.8 billion and profits rose 38% to ¥87.1 billion. 🙏 After severe layoffs in early 2024, gaming job cuts dropped below 700 per quarter by late 2024. Data suggests hiring now matches layoffs, with 13,500 hires annually in core game development. While 35,000 job seekers compete for limited roles, 2025 could be a net positive hiring year if trends hold. 📈 Growth is still likely to be in single digits, mainly due to interest rates, the return of players to offices and classrooms post pandemic, and high-profile games failing to meet expectations meaning projects are delayed and budgets continue to grow putting pressure on investors and developers alike. ❔ “The gaming industry is at a pivotal moment, with everyone asking the same question, 'How do we regain momentum?'” 💎 One additional opportunity to those mentioned in the report, is that of finding innovative ways to slicken game development times, without negative impacts on game scope and budget expectations. Learning methods from world class businesses outside of gaming could be the answer. Companies such as Mazda Motor Europe, NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration, Boeing and Texas Instruments have successfully taken this approach, to enhance their own. A fresh look at current game development planning and management approaches, and enhancing these with behavioural science, statistically proven techniques, could provide an answer to greater growth and sustainability.
