Wellness and Fitness Services

72 Seasons is a creative concept which can encourage a deeper connection to nature and improve wellbeing.

About us

72 Seasons was first created as a year-long research project in 2020, designed by Kirsty Rose Parker (founder & director of The Evaluator), to measure how being more connected to nature makes us feel. The end result was a very special calendar where the seasons change every 4 or 5 days, originally inspired by the ancient natural calendar in Japan. We inspire people to look for the subtle natural changes in the world around them, and at the same time improve their wellbeing.

  • After the bare, browns of winter trees, now is the time that they begin to regain their green colours. Have a look at Werner’s colours: https://lnkd.in/eYB6-j-q. These colours of nature were used by Charles Darwin, so he could be certain that the green he described, was the green everyone saw. Can you match the shade of green to specific trees? 30th April – 4th May – Trees turn Green Again Do you know the old saying ‘If the ash comes out before the oak There'll be a summer soak. If the oak comes out before the ash There'll be a summer splash.’ Why not have a look and see which is first in your area? The Woodland Trust, have a free app for identifying British trees, which is available to download for Android & iOS. • 31 March - 4 April; Daffodils Dance in the Breeze Daffodils are perennial plants from the amaryllis family, and their scientific name is ‘Narcissus’. There’s a myth from Greek Mythology about a man called Narcissus, who was cursed and fell in love with his own reflection. He couldn’t bear to leave the stream where he saw his reflection, until he grew exhausted, fell in and drowned. It is believed that daffodils are called narcissus because they grow on riverbanks, and they often bend their heads as if to look at their own reflection. Daffodils are often seen as symbols of wealth. In Wales they are referred to as ‘Lent Lily’ and it is said they if you spot the first daffodil of the season, your next year will be filled with wealth, so keep your eyes peeled! Will that be the wealth of enjoying nature or actual wealth! What do you think?

  • 1-3 March – Plants Show Their First Buds As the warming sun begins to caress the Earth, the cold colours of winter begin to be replaced by the natural colours of Spring. Many plants begin to bud, turning the Earth green. Werners nomenclature of colour is a book, first published in 1814, which Charles Darwin used to describe the colours of the natural world. You can have a go yourself as the book is available online. Why not have a look at Werner’s Greens for this and compare them to your surroundings. https://lnkd.in/eYB6-j-q How do you feel about the descriptions and titles of the colours? Do you agree, or do you have your own ideas? We would love to know. For more information, please see our website on https://lnkd.in/emgnCNwe
