🚨 New podcast episode alert! 🚨 https://lnkd.in/eQQr838d This week on #TheICPodcast, host Katie Macaulay is joined by storyteller extraordinaire (amongst many other titles and accolades) Jeremy Connell-Waite. Jeremy is the Global Communications Designer at IBM. He's a performance coach for senior executives an acclaimed speech writer and an up-and-coming name in the AI space. Add to this his fervent passion for storytelling and a love of giraffes, and we're sure you're beginning to gather why he's such a great scoop for the podcast. There is far too much goodness in this episode to pick highlights, but if we must pick just one, it's this: Storytelling is no soft skill. And it must be respected and honed. Let us know what you think!

Trust is society’s most valuable commodity. You need it to build happy, productive, tuned-in workforces that believe you’re all pulling in the same direction. There's some challenging reading in the latest Edelman trust report. Not least that 61% of those surveyed globally have a moderate or high sense of grievance against government, business and the rich. But the good news for us internal communicators is that three-quarters of the 33,000 surveyed say they do trust their employer to do what is right. Now is the time to shore up that trust. As Edelman puts it, ‘Business has a license to act… understand where you have obligations, act on behalf of your stakeholders and advocate for your organisation.’ And strengthening that trust in leaders is not as hard as you might think. After 60 years of AB, one thing is clear. If you want people to trust your leaders, lean into their story. It’s vital that internal comms teams humanise leaders, demonstrate the value of their judgement and the value they place in their workforce – and show their story. The most impactful work is that which shows leaders in a new light. The manager sharing their mental health struggles or the head of admitting the time they hadn’t got it right and their team rescued the project despite the boss’ failings. We help time-poor clients with our IC Boost to create exactly this type of trust-building content. We can help you find the right story and experiment with new formats – short videos, voice notes, animations – that emphasise authenticity, accessibility and trustworthiness.
