We are immensely proud to share that Lightcliffe Academy has been judged GOOD in all areas in their recent Ofsted inspections. Inspectors complimented the “rich opportunities” offered to students and how they “benefit from a well-considered and ambitious quality of education”. Alongside academic strengths, the report comments on the “calm and purposeful atmosphere” at Lightcliffe Academy and how our students “speak of the school’s welcoming atmosphere which enables pupils to be themselves”. Head of School, Jo Hackett speaks to the vision for the academy "I took up the post at Lightcliffe Academy because I could see the brilliance in our young people and how committed and invested our staff are. The school has been on a significant journey, and I have always been confident that we could make it a great place for our students to learn and grow. This is at the heart of our ambitious vision, and the Ofsted outcome confirms what has been achieved." Our co-CEOs Helen Pratten and CATHERINE GARRETT share "We are delighted with the report, which recognises the significant improvements secured since the last inspection and the commitment of leaders and staff as a whole." Adding to this, our Executive Principal for Secondaries, Paul Cooper said "This well-deserved outcome is testament to the strong academy leadership and shared commitment of the whole community” #Ofsted #Good #LightcliffeAmbition #Partnership #Educate #Nurture #Empower

Schools across our Trust work with the Leeds United Foundation - providing schools access to free, inspiring curriculum-linked resources that bring lessons to life, supporting PSHE, health and wellbeing, PE, English and Maths. A recent visit from Leeds United football star Ilia Gruev to Manston St James Primary Academy also allowed our pupils to showcase their Oracy skills, with the Premier League Primary Stars Co-ordinator Angus Hall sharing "I was impressed by the quality of the questions and I think when you have that many versatile questions, not only did it give them a good opportunity to speak and interact with Ilia, but the questions they asked meant that his answers were also really valuable and useful for them, away from school as well." We need to talk. We are proud to have contributed to the ground-breaking national report on the future of Oracy education in England, published today by the #OracyEducationCommission. We have embedded our ambitious oracy strategy into all our schools to become a talk-rich Trust, supporting our students to grow in confidence and articulation. "if – once and for all – our education system is to narrow the achievement gap between children from advantaged and disadvantaged backgrounds, we are convinced that oracy has as foundational role to play as reading, writing and mathematics. It is the fourth ‘R’." Read the full report on our website, and find out how we approach #Oracy at Abbey MAT (link in comments) Voice 21 UK #TalkRichTrust #Weneedtotalk #OracyEducation

Yesterday our full Corporate Services Team held their first Conference. Bringing together our Finance, HR, IT, Estates, Governance and Marketing Teams, along with some of our Primary Admin colleagues, we spent time celebrating our successes, learning about key topics of importance to our Trust such as Sustainability, and discussing how we can further collaborate to enhance our supportive workplace culture. We also welcomed Tom Dickinson from 'Toms Talks' who gave a moving and impactful keynote speech on Mental Health and wellbeing, with a particular focus on male mental health. The conference had a clear focus on the future, taking time to understand the Trust's new strategic plan, and how our central team plays a part in every pillar. It was an empowering day where everyone contributed, laughed, supported and shared, and we hope colleagues left with a renewed sense of purpose around our mission - to work in Partnership to Educate, Nurture and Empower. #AbbeyMAT #StaffConference #Empower #Partnership #Collaboration
