First Local Place Plans submitted to Aberdeenshire Council Stonehaven & District community council has created a localised plan for consideration into the Aberdeenshire Local Development Plan process following lengthy community engagement. The ‘live’ documents describe the needs, hopes and aspirations for the communities living within the various settlement boundaries. Local Place Plans give communities an opportunity to work up proposals for the development and use of land in the place where they live and offer the opportunity for a community-led, but collaborative approach to local place-making, setting out proposals for the development and use of land. Forming a key part of the Scottish Government’s new planning reform, the scheme has been introduced to increase community involvement in the planning and spatial design process. https://lnkd.in/eDR4Y-WF #LocalPlacePlan #Aberdeenshire

Fraserburgh Beach Vision & Masterplan gets national commendation Fraserburgh Beach Vision & Masterplan has been Commended in the UK-wide RTPI Planning for Excellence Awards 2024 hosted in London on November, 26. The judges’ comments: "Judges commended The Fraserburgh Beach Vision & Masterplan for its fairly unique plan in comparison to other entries given the scale and nature of the land-use. This project demonstrates excellent evidence of community engagement embracing a co-production approach and ensures timely execution despite the challenging timetable." Although not specifically a town centre project, the benefits of this masterplan will benefit the whole of Fraserburgh including the town centre. See page 8 at https://lnkd.in/ejT7AryY

Honour for Aberdeenshire Council team championing ‘choose local’ call The business-boosting success of an Aberdeenshire Council team in championing the drive for residents to choose local has been celebrated on the national stage. Suzanne Rhind and her colleagues in the authority’s regeneration and town centres team have been presented with a judges’ special Scotland Loves Local Award. The prize is in recognition of the dedication and impact with which the team has promoted the Scotland Loves Local Aberdeenshire Gift Card, which has locked in excess of £1.2m into the region’s economy. It was presented at the Scotland’s Towns Conference in Perth on Wednesday (November 28th). The event was organised by Scotland's Towns Partnership (STP), which is also the organisation which spearheads Scotland Loves Local.
