Simple I know but so effective !!! Sometimes, our eyes gloss over small errors or awkward phrasing, but hearing the text helps highlight issues that may not be immediately visible. The "Read Aloud" function in Microsoft Word is an excellent tool for this. Here’s how to use it effectively. 1. Open your CV in Word 2. Go to the "Review" Tab In the top toolbar, click on the “Review" tab. This is where the proofing tools are located. 3. Click "Read Aloud” You’ll see a “Read Aloud" button in the section labeled “ Speech" . Click on it. 4. Listen Carefully The text will now be read aloud to you. As you hear the text, you can make live edits to ensure clarity and consistency. 💫Try this method the next time you're proofreading your CV—it could make all the difference!💫

Here are some strategies that I’ve been sharing with clients recently to help effectively manage this limbo period, particularly when key decision makers may be out of the office: 1️⃣ Try to avoid reaching out on Fridays or during peak holiday times. Mid-week mornings tend to be better. 2️⃣ Summertime often means things slow down a bit. Give them about a week or two before checking in. 3️⃣ Keep your follow up message friendly and concise. Remind them of your recent interview or application, and ask about the next steps. Mentioning a specific detail from your conversation can jog their memory. 4️⃣ Think about using different channels. Start with a polite email. If you don't get a response, a casual message on LinkedIn can sometimes do the trick. If it's urgent, a quick call is useful too. 5️⃣ Keep an eye on their social media and website. You might catch updates that affect their hiring timeline. 6️⃣ Consider networking options. LinkedIn is great for this. Connect with people at the company and engage in industry groups to get insider insights. 7️⃣ Use this downtime wisely. Brush up on your skills, research more about the company, or brainstorm ideas that could impress in your next interaction.
