We’re delighted to announce that Freddie Fellowes will be joining our ‘Future of Festivals’ panel at the Access All Areas Conference & Awards, taking place on 5 December at Indigo at The O2! A major presence on the UK festival circuit for over 20 years, the Secret Garden Party's founder and impresario, Freddie Fellowes aka The Head Gardener, has always sought to push boundaries. For the most recent edition of the Garden Party, Freddie chose to bypass headliners in favour of spreading the booking budget more evenly across the line-up in order to better support grassroots talent. Somewhat more controversially, the head gardener also decided to replace the main stage with a full-size maquette that had been ‘taken over’ by a fictitious global entertainment company… this was duly blown up and burnt as part of the award-winning Saturday night spectacle. Freddie will be joined by From The Fields Creative Director Cathryn Peach-Barnes, WeGroup’s CEO Nick Morgan and AEG Presents’ Vice President & General Manager for European Festivals Lynsey Wollaston in what promises to be a highly compelling opening session. ⚡ This week on LiveWire... UK Music Ltd reports that while the music industry contributed a record £7.6bn to the UK economy in 2023, significant challenges mean it has reached a tipping point. The Government has responded with a pledge of support. Live Nation Entertainment is heading to the High Court thanks to PRS for Music, which claims the promoter is not being sufficiently transparent about VIP ticket prices. In other Live Nation news, Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund has divested its entire shareholding in the promoter and made a $930 million profit.
