Making films FOR people. Making films ABOUT people. Making films WITH people.

About us

Access Moving Image (AMI) is a multi award winning production company founded in 2003. We produce entertaining and thought provoking films for cinema and internet audiences, along with highly effective communication films for business clients in the private, public and third sectors. We're a little different from other production companies, because we use our own profits and surplus revenues to subsidise or fund social film projects through our groundbreaking First Shot and InFocus initiatives. These projects allow everyone - including young people, the marginalised and the ignored - to contribute to discussions about issues that affect them. The films offer a candid insight into the cultural make-up of our society and can be used to influence decision makers and affect change. AMI often works in partnership with other organisations, agencies and local authorities to develop projects within the region and across the UK. The company was founded by Craig Lawson in response to his frustration at the lack of opportunities for working class filmmakers in the region. He remains as passionate today as he did back in 2003 about the need to find and develop talent. Our New Wave programme was established to support and incubate emerging filmmakers from non-traditional backgrounds across the north of England by creating freelance work opportunities and access to advice and low cost resources. The programme has supported the development and production of countless short films culminating in the award winning feature documentary 'We Are Poets'.

Camera Trainee & Freelance Videographer • Based in Leeds, with bases in Manchester & Greater London Area

Since graduating in July this year, I've had some amazing opportunities to develop my skills, meet new people, and work on projects I'm really proud of! I’ve been filming events for TechSkills.org, including their induction and hackathon events with a range of universities. This has given me a lot of experience filming educational events and testing out some new equipment in the process. If any universities need someone to film their events, I’d love to help! You can see examples of my work on my LinkedIn page. Outside of videography, I'm passionate about being a camera assistant. Over the summer, I worked as a clapper loader on Dark Rift Horror's upcoming interactive film, which taught me the ins and outs of camera assisting. I also had an amazing trainee opportunity through Film Buddy Online on upcoming HETV drama Riot Women, observing and learning how the trainees work and what mistakes to avoid. Massive thank you to Dan Waters for bringing me along for several of his shoots, I've learned a lot about the freelance world and gained hands-on experience helping him setup as well as filming the BTS of his process. If you are looking for an assistant in the camera department, or in need of someone to film you and showcase how you work, please reach out! I also had the rewarding opportunity to mentor young filmmakers for the Bradford BFI 2024 short course lead by Access Moving Image, helping students learn new filmmaking skills to make a short film in just a few days. Lastly, I’d like to thank The New Monday for letting me photograph their December networking event. I’ve attended their events for several months now where I've made many new connections, so it was great to finally give something back. I look forward to the next one! I hope everyone has lovely break and I look forward to working with some new faces in 2025 🎄 Website: https://lnkd.in/e7j8Ecjv Email: mjwhiteman02@gmail.com
