Landon Damiao, Vice President of Catastrophe Modeling at Acrisure Re, will be speaking at the upcoming 2025 Cat Risk Management Conference hosted by the Reinsurance Association of America (RAA). Landon’s presentation will dive into the growing significance of catastrophe risk scores in the insurance industry, highlighting how these scores are transforming underwriting, pricing, and risk aggregation monitoring processes for primary insurance companies. With traditional catastrophe models often too slow for real-time quoting, underwriting, or even recurring portfolio modeling, risk scores offer a quick and effective alternative. By providing precompiled results through a simple lookup, they can bridge coverage gaps, enhance the capabilities of cat models, or offer an additional perspective for risk management. Landon will explore the various types of risk scores available in the market and discuss how they can help primary insurers strengthen their risk management strategies. He will also touch on how reinsurers can leverage risk scores to assess data quality and better understand their own risk tolerance.
