  • It’s the final day of our sustainability week, and here we look towards the future. Here’s at ACS we’re tangibly making a difference, and that’s why we focus on these points: ♻️ Our state-of-the-art facilities It’s not just our people that we are investing in, our facilities are top notch too. ♻️ In 2019 we moved into our purpose-built manufacturing facility in Leeds, home to over 1,000 photovoltaic solar panels that ensure a third of the energy we consume is generated on site through renewable sources. ♻️ Auto-dimming LED lighting and maximum levels of insulation have ensured that our factory achieves an EPC rating of A, helping to reduce our energy demand all year round. ♻️ Our Net Zero target In 2022 we measured our baseline operational carbon footprint, and we are working tirelessly to achieve a 50% reduction by 2030 and Net Zero by 2050, with our targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). ♻️ Looking to the future We are delighted to announce that we have committed to achieving Planet Mark Business Certification. Planet Mark are a sustainability certification provider with a mission to “#DoMoreGood” – a message that we fundamentally believe in. We truly believe in the power of business as a force for good and look forward to sharing further details on our sustainability journey soon. Alex Beever

  • 🎄 It’s our Christmas party this afternoon, so the ACS factory is operating with a skeleton staff from 2pm. If you need us, please don’t hesitate to call the office – we do have some colleagues onsite, but it may take us a little longer than usual to respond. Thank you for your patience and understanding! 🎅✨

  • On the fourth day of our sustainability week, we look at giving back. 2024 has been a fabulous year at ACS and we’re proud to give back to our community. Over the last two years we’ve contributed to our communities through our Steel Soldiers campaign and raised over £12,000 to the Army Benevolent Fund, we’ve donated 20,000 bricks to help the students at Leeds College of Building, we’ve committed to our ongoing support of MND awareness – donating over £50,000 for the charity since 2021, and 2025 is set to be an even bigger year for ACS, and we can’t wait to support our existing and new community campaigns as the new year starts. • Today, in our sustainability focus, we meet Alex Beever our Sustainability Manager. Alex has taken on this pioneering new role at ACS, created in response to our commitment to further our knowledge about the effect our business has on the environment and people. His role will advance our 2025 sustainability goals, and here he shares a few thoughts: “Sustainability isn’t just about the environment although this is of course pivotal, it’s as much about social responsibility. We want to lead with purpose as we consider in fine detail the effect our business activity has socially. “We have an opportunity to make a truly positive impact on the future and this focus on people is a big part of ACS’s overarching strategy. We’ll be examining the long-term approach of our business initiatives with transparency and integrity as we capitalise on our potential to improve people’s lives.” Alex Beever

  • We’re committed to supporting educational institutions, helping the next generation of construction and manufacturing professionals to reach their full potential. As part of the company’s ongoing commitment, we recently donated 20,000 bricks to Leeds College of Building – providing essential materials for students to practice their skills and enhance their hands-on learning experience. ACS currently has 11 apprentices - including six from Leeds Building College. ...And we plan to welcome more in the New Year as we recognise the important role apprentices play in not only shaping the business, but the future of the sector at large. • It’s day two of our week celebrating our sustainability commitments, and today we look at our journey so far. We are proud to be GOLD members of the 5% club, a commitment to furthering the number, quality and range of earn and learn opportunities across the UK. Our very own ACS apprenticeship programme partners with top educational institutions like Leeds College of Building, Leeds City College and TTE Training to provide hands-on experience and expert mentorship. And … in 2024 we opened the ACS Academy, a dedicated training facility for staff and customers, featuring bespoke training rigs to provide hands on experience with our products. Whether it be investing in renewable energy, driving skills development, recruiting apprentices, or donating to local causes - we’re determined to lead with purpose as we prioritise tangible actions that benefit everyday life. • Huge thanks to our friends at Tenmat who treated our colleagues to a day in their Manchester factory this week. ACS and Tenmat are partners, working together over the last few years on Intex™ - ACS' 4-in-1 Masonry Support System and the first combined masonry support system combining four critical components in one easy-to-fit design. The Tenmat team helped us learn more about the intumescent used on Intex™. This included a sample fire test with intumescent expanding to fill a gap in the same way as Intex™ works. Concluding the visit our colleague Paul Ruding said: “Partnerships like these are extremely important to create a safer built environment. Collaboration with industry partners within the same cavity space allows us to create products to remove clashes and reduce the risk of site errors” Tenmat Ltd. Paul Ruding
