Help us make Addenbrooke's Hospital even better for patients
About us
Addenbrooke's Charitable Trust (ACT) is the only registered charity dedicated to supporting innovation in patient care across Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Addenbrooke’s and the Rosie hospitals. The hospitals have earned the reputation of being among the world's best academic healthcare organisations, and ACT's aim is to support those achievements by raising funds for cutting edge technology, additional specialist staff, environmental enhancements and extra comforts for patients that make all the difference. We also provide seed funding for early stage research projects, supporting the hospitals' clinical academics keen to embark on a research career. This funding then often leverages more ambitious research funding opportunities, and as such can be an essential component in identifying global cures and advances in treatment. With the help of our supporters, ACT has been able to fund a broad range of projects and services across the hospitals, including raising funds to transform cancer and children’s services, further our research programme, facilitate innovative new projects and provide small comforts that can mean so much to patients every day. Registered charity number: 1170103

🌟 Addenbrooke's Charitable Trust would like to say a huge thank you to our amazing corporate partner Illumina who funded an incredible £40,000 to ACT to provide essential care packs to families whose children have been admitted to Addenbrooke's in an emergency. 💪 Not only did Illumina provide this vital funding but their staff also volunteered to create and deliver the packs to the hospitals. 🌟 Addenbrooke's often has children admitted from outside the region with their parents, and these emergency care packs will make a huge difference to families during their stay. The first packs are being used the same day the team delivered them, highlighting how important they are. Thank you Illumina for your continued support in helping to improve care at the hospital!🙏💙

🌟 It’s #Internationalmensday and we had the pleasure of talking to Mattie Russell, a personal trainer and strength training coach from Lift Fitness Cambridge. Having undergone a year of therapy following a diagnosis of PTSD and anxiety whilst serving in the military, Mattie is keen to get the message across that it is okay for men to talk – adding that the phrase ‘man up’ is just nonsense. 💪 For the whole month of November, Mattie will be wearing a 10KG weighted vest - symbolising the weight of anxieties and worries - to raise awareness of men’s mental health. As if that isn’t hard enough, he will also be doing 20 workouts in the gym during November – whilst carrying the extra 10KG on his body. Mattie said: “It is a strength to address those feelings that are holding you back, not a weakness, and you need to get things of your chest in order to move forward in life.” 🙌💚 Mattie will be opening the doors of his gym Lift Fitness Cambridge on the evening of 30th November so that any men who would like to come and chat can pop in – and have a beer too if they want. 🏋️♂️ Find Matty on Facebook at @MattyGRussell @MattyGRussell and Instagram @coach_mattie_russell
