About us

Adaptavate is an award-winning company developing and commercialising the carbon negative building materials of the future. The company produces construction products that outperform conventional solutions, whilst being better for people and the planet. Our products include the Breathaplasta product family – a range of performance plasters made easy. The range includes: Breathaplasta UNIVERSAL - a fast setting, bio-based, multi-purpose plaster designed for rapid build-up onto a wide range of backgrounds including plasterboard and wood wool board. Breathaplasta THERMAL - a fast-setting, low-density insulating plaster designed for fast and easy application onto the internal face of solid masonry walls for effective, breathable internal wall insulation (IWI). Breathaplasta SMOOTH - a fine finishing plaster designed to be a super smooth final surface finish that is quick and easy to apply onto plasterboard and to overcoat existing plaster surfaces. In addition, the company has successfully built and commissioned the world’s first pilot line capable of producing Breathaboard—a carbon sequestering alternative to plasterboard—in a continuous, integrated, and scalable process.

The January 2025 issue of Global Gypsum Magazine contains a plant review from Brazil’s Trevo Drywall, a relatively small producer of wallboard, but one that is punching above its weight in its domestic market. There’s also a look at the role of biocides in wallboard in the humid environments of Asia with Lanxess and, speaking of the tropics, this issue features a full review of the recent Global Gypsum Conference & Exhibition, which took place in Bangkok, Thailand. There is also a look at the major global insulation market players and trends over the past 12 months in our inaugural Global Insulation Report. There was substantial growth in the sector in 2024, with more on the cards this year. #gypsum Read the full issue here: https://lnkd.in/eCrgCuS

Adaptavate’s low-carbon wallboard technology set to globalise after hitting international industry standards - The company’s pioneering technology can help decarbonise the construction industry globally, with up to 4kg of CO2 saved per m2 of its plasterboard alternative - Breathaboard is made with renewable agricultural feedstocks and waste, absorbs CO2, and is installed in the same way as plasterboard Adaptavate has just released the testing done to date on Breathaboard, its pioneering low-carbon alternative to plasterboard, confirming that it hits, and in some cases exceeds, the wallboard industry standards. Developed over the last ten years with Adaptavate’s patented technology, Breathaboard is a drop-in solution to reduce CO2 emissions and waste in the wallboard market and the built environment. Adaptavate’s technology intends to make low-carbon, carbon storing and carbon-negative building products available to all. The company’s first solution, Breathaboard, focuses on the wallboard category and the news today confirms its potential to go mainstream. In fact, Adaptavate is already trialling the product across UK building sites and is in talks with global and regional plasterboard manufacturers about deploying its low-carbon technology and plasterboard alternative across the globe. Tom Robinson, founder and CEO at Adaptavate said: “This milestone is a result of the team’s hard work, and the backing we have had over the last two years in building our pilot production facility and labs from the Government and our investors. https://lnkd.in/eYzrCfme

  • ❄️ Cold weather tips for applying Breathaplasta ❄️ When temperatures drop, it’s essential to take extra precautions. Here are some key guidelines to ensure your project runs smoothly, even in colder temperatures: ✅ Handle materials carefully: Store materials off the ground on a pallet or similar in a dry area to avoid any damage to product. 🌡️ Keep the site warm: Maintain an ideal temperature between 10°C –16°C, or a minimum of 5°C for your work area. ⏳ Allow more time between layers: Ensure each coat has adequately set before the next application to prevent cracking or adhesion issues. 💨 Balance ventilation: Ensure proper ventilation to help drying, but avoid overcooling the area. Planning ahead and monitoring site conditions can make all the difference in achieving a flawless finish. 🏠 💬 Have questions?
