  • It's October 🎃 How did that happen? While we're busy at ADS HQ helping people across Greater Manchester with alcohol and other drug use, the Macmillan Cancer Support annual fundraiser, Go Sober for October has kicked off on the 1st of the month. We fully support this campaign. It's not too late to get stuck in if you want to give your body and brain a well-earned break from alcohol. Just a reminder, if you have been drinking a lot, you have experienced any withdrawals or you feel you might struggle to stop, it’s important to get the right support. Suddenly stopping alcohol after heavy use can be dangerous for some people, so don’t hesitate to reach out if you need advice or help. You can speak to your GP, contact your local alcohol support services, or get in touch with us at ADS. Here's what Macmillan say; Sober October is an 18+ fundraising campaign aimed at challenging social drinkers to change their habits for a month and make some healthy lifestyle changes. We would encourage people to drink responsibly and stick to the recommended daily guidelines for the rest of the year. We advise heavy drinkers or people dependent on alcohol to speak with their GP before signing up to Sober October. Whether you're going sober for a cause or looking to make lasting changes, remember that you're not alone. We can help 💜 Stay safe, and good luck to everyone going sober this October! #GoSober #AlcoholSupport #ADS
