Storm Éowyn is causing severe disruption across the UK, with rare red #weather warnings issued by the Met Office. Millions have been urged to stay home as flights and ferry crossings are cancelled, schools close, and travel chaos unfolds. Northern Ireland and parts of Scotland are expected to be hardest hit, with gusts reaching up to 100 mph (161 km/h). The storm has already caused damage in several areas and triggered 34 flood alerts in England. Further amber and yellow warnings remain in place through the weekend. Recently, the International Propeller Club (IPC) hosted a pivotal seminar in Casablanca: "𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘀: 𝗔 𝗟𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗮𝘁 𝗟𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗜𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗲𝘀 - 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗰𝗼."   This unique event brought together over 80 professionals, including port experts, industry players, terminal operators, insurers, and risk managers, to tackle legal and technical challenges surrounding #freightshortages.   The seminar was led by two distinguished experts, both members of the IPC board: * Mr. Abdelhakim LAHLOU, lawyer at LAHLOU & Associates, examined freight shortages under international conventions, highlighting global legal frameworks and the challenges in Moroccan courts’ jurisdiction. * Commander M'hammed Atmani, Port and Maritime Expert at Advanta Maroc, addressed technical issues often faced by cereal importers and insurers. He clarified legal misinterpretations that can unfairly affect stakeholders like terminal operators, particularly at Moroccan ports.   Given the importance and urgency of this topic, a working committee will be formed in 2025 which includes our very own M'hammed Atmani from our Advanta Morocco.
