In the past year, we helped 131 young people in St Helens. Young people like Evie. Evie didn’t feel safe talking to people she didn’t know. So, the staff at her home asked an Advocate to help her. The Advocate got to know Evie by doing things she liked, like colouring Disney characters together. Over time, Evie became more comfortable and started sharing her feelings and the staff saw her grow in confidence and become more chatty with people. Our Community Focus Hub is moving next door (for now!) In December, our Community Focus Hub will move next door to 16b for a little while (there will be a sign on the door). An Advocate’s role is to put forward the wishes and feelings of people that have care and support needs. An Advocate helps someone live the way they want to, even if others don't agree with their choices. They listen to what the person wants and will work to help them reach their goals.
