We’re thrilled to share that our latest batch of Electric Vehicles (EVs) has arrived! With eight EVs delivered to Luton, five to Rickmansworth, and six more to sites at Hatfield, Horsley Cross, and Folkestone, we’re well on track toward transitioning to a fully electric fleet by 2030. 🚗💧 Here’s what Allen, one of our Leakage Control Technicians, had to say about his first week with the EV: "The handover and first week went well — I managed to get from Luton to Staines on 24% charge. It took around 90 minutes to recharge, but I’m excited to see how it performs fully loaded with equipment. It’s a great van, and I’m glad I took part in the trial.” To support our EV rollout, we plan to install chargers at Hatfield and Luton. With 60+ more EVs targeted to join us in the first half of 2025 and additional orders planned for later in the year, we’re committed to building a cleaner, greener future. 🌍⚡ #electric #future #green #watercompany

💧 At Affinity Water, we’re committed to ensuring a sustainable water supply for future generations. Last week, our CEO, Keith Haslett, participated in the New Statesman’s Politics Live event, where we hosted a vital policy roundtable on water security. The discussion focused on the increasing challenges posed by population growth, climate change, and rising water demand. 🌍 We were joined by policymakers, parliamentarians, industry leaders, and experts to explore how the government and water sector can work together to build a sustainable water future. 🌿 It’s clear that collaboration and innovation are key to tackling these challenges, and we’re proud to be part of these critical conversations. 📄 For more insights, read our 10 Steps to Water Security policy paper here and stay informed on how we can all contribute to securing the future of water: https://lnkd.in/dV5TqVhw

At Affinity Water, we’re making mental health a priority. Earlier this month, eighteen of our male colleagues and contractors came together for a Men’s Meet-Up at Datchworth Rugby Club to discuss men’s mental health and challenge the stigma that often surrounds it. 💬 Held in a rugby club to confront traditional stereotypes, the event created a space for vulnerability and connection. It was inspiring to see our colleagues open up, support one another, and share ideas on how we can foster a culture of wellbeing. This is just the start of making these meet-ups a regular part of our efforts to support mental health. With 64% of our workforce being male, building awareness and providing resources for men’s mental health is essential. This gathering was a vital first step, and we’re excited to see these conversations grow into lasting support across our business. 💙 Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this event so impactful. 🏉 💬

We were pleased to welcome Sarah Green, MP for Chesham and Amersham, to one of our pumping stations in Chesham. This visit allowed us to discuss how the Chalk aquifer beneath the Chilterns provides water to local communities - a vital resource that makes Affinity Water’s supply area truly unique. 🌍💧 Our region is home to 10% of the world’s rare Chalk streams, yet pressures like population growth, climate change, and rising water demand are creating unprecedented challenges for our environment and water resources. 🌱 That’s why Affinity Water is dedicated to sustainable solutions. Our long-term ambition is to end unsustainable abstraction where identified and to ground our decisions in rigorous scientific research, ensuring resilient and balanced water management for the future. 🔬🌿 To learn more about our long-term strategic plans, please visit: https://lnkd.in/dWzsQDK4

Our CEO, Keith Haslett, recently met with Chris Weston, CEO of Thames Water, and Lawrence Gosden, CEO of Southern Water, to discuss joint proposals for an essential new reservoir to support the South East. Sustainability is embedded in Affinity Water's strategy and integrated into our daily activities. This focus helps us address the challenges posed by climate change, population growth, increased water demand, and centuries of river alterations. Our mission is to provide high-quality drinking water while protecting the environment for our communities - now and for the future. Chris Weston says: 'As our population grows and the effects of climate change continue to take hold, demand for water will increase. We’re serious about tackling water leakage and reducing consumption levels, but that alone isn’t enough. We must build more resilient infrastructure to avoid a future crisis. We are working together – water companies, our regulators and Government – to develop new water storage and supply solutions.' #sustainability #environment #watercompanies #future

We are thrilled to announce the publication of our final Water Resources Management Plan 2024, which has recently been approved by Defra's Secretary of State, Steve Reed. This plan is a pivotal step forward in our journey to ensure a secure and sustainable water supply for our communities while addressing the pressing challenges posed by climate change. Here are some key highlights from the final publication: 🌊 We're fast-tracking abstraction reductions in critical areas, ensuring more water remains in our rivers. Our collaboration with the Chalk Streams First initiative enhances our strategies for sustainable water management. 💦 We're reducing leakage by 50% by 2050 and installing 1.5 million smart meters by 2035 to promote water efficiency. 👷♀️ New projects will improve water transfer and resilience, including the Grand Union Canal Strategic Resource Option, set to deliver vital resources by 2032. Our Director of Asset Strategy and Capital Delivery, Stephen Plumb, discussed the changes: “Our approved plan reflects both public input and the latest regulatory guidance, ensuring that we meet future water needs while protecting the environment and delivering value to customers.” 🔗We invite you to explore our WRMP submission and discover more: https://bit.ly/3YdyaDB Together, let’s secure a sustainable water supply for future generations! 💧💚 #sustainability #environment #innovation #news #watercompany

🌿A major milestone for our wider biodiversity enhancement commitment—we've introduced cattle grazing at Hilfield Park Reservoir, as part of a new conservation management method!🐄💧 Hilfield Park Reservoir, managed by Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust, is one of our most important sites for biodiversity as it contains one of the least disturbed lakes in Hertfordshire. It's home to hundreds of species, and we were so pleased to introduce four Dexter cattle to the site last week. Using an innovative NoFence GPS collar system, the cattle can be moved remotely without physical fencing. This technology supports a grazing method known as "mob grazing", helping to restore the natural balance of the ecosystem and allowing the cattle to naturally manage the land in ways that significantly enhance biodiversity. We're proud to be making a significant contribution to conservation efforts in the region and can't wait to see the positive impacts that this grazing initiative will bring to Hilfield’s diverse habitats! 🌳✨ . . . #biodiversity #hilfieldpark #hertswildlifetrust
