🎄 You Did It! 🎄 🎁 The Big Give Christmas Challenge has once again proven to be a phenomenal week of fundraising. To each of you who have so kindly donated to our 2024 Porridge Clubs appeal, we're sending you the biggest THANK YOU. We're slightly overwhelmed and beyond grateful for your support. 🎁 In total, you've raised £14,164 and exceeded our £13,500 target for our most successful Big Give Christmas Challenge ever. This consisted of £7,414 from 86 donations during the Big Give Christmas Challenge week which unlocked £6,750 of match funding. 🎁 The funds raised will be enough for our partner, Watoto Kwanza, to provide 157,378 mugs of porridge to Kenyan schoolchildren. What an extraordinary impact! These mugs of porridge will improve school attendance which, in turn, ensures children have a better chance to gain skills, confidence and qualifications to improve their lives. 🎁 Last but by no means least, we're extending our thanks to our pledger and The Coles-Medlock Foundation for generously contributing to our match fund pot, and of course to the team at Big Give for facilitating the past 7 days and all the efforts and preparation that go into making it such a success. Thank you once again for your kindness. Same time, next year?! #ChristmasChallenge #Success #ThankYou #Christmas #Kenya #Charity #NonProfit #NotForProfit #Impact

Making a difference to children born into poverty.
About us
African Children's Fund's work with grassroots partners in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe in education and children’s rights is making a real difference to the lives of almost 4,000 children born into poverty every year. Helping children off the streets and into school gives them a chance to improve their lives and build a better future. The projects we support are run by local staff who are committed to - and know the needs of - their own communities.

⚽ New Sports Kit for Mangu Primary School! ⚽ Do you remember the generosity of Witney Vikings Youth F.C. last autumn? They very kindly donated a huge batch of football kits to one of our supporters, who was visiting the programmes we support in Kenya. Although her visit sadly coincided with the start of the Kenyan school holidays, the donated items have been kept safe for the start of the new school term, and the first batch of items were distributed to the SEN Unit at Mangu Primary School yesterday! Take a look at the video below to find out what teacher Anne Wanja has to say about the importance of these special clothing items. No doubt more photos will follow in the coming weeks as the remaining items are circulated to other schools. Once more, we extend our thanks to Chris and the Witney Vikings Youth Football Club community who we know have been so excited to find out where the kits would eventually be distributed! You're truly all superstars 🖤💛 #Kenya #Football #Sport #Witney #Charity #NonProfit #NotForProfit

🎄 Christmas at Joy 🎄 It's not too late to share these, right?! We've had some great photos of Christmas celebrations at the Joy Children's Centre in Kenya. As you can see, they celebrated with a bouncy castle, face paints, a brand new trampoline and learning to DJ 🎧 Thanks to support from The Batt School in Witney, the team at Joy were able to provide a few little extra treats to the children this Christmas. Thanks to the Batt School Worship Council for leading the way! 🏫 #Christmas #Joy #Kenya #Witney #Charity #NonProfit #NotForProfit

⏱️ 30 seconds = £1,000! ⏱️ Or at least, it could if we're drawn and the more nominations we receive, the higher the chances of success! That's right, the Benefact Group Movement For Good awards are back which means we need as many of you as possible to donate 30 seconds of your time to click on this link and add our name to the draw. https://lnkd.in/e7Jg9UDh All draws are reset at 1st January, so if you nominated us last year, please go ahead and nominate us again! And of course if you've never nominated us before, it takes less than 30 seconds. Remember, a £1,000 prize could provide 11,111 mugs of porridge to children in Kenya, where food poverty can lead to children having to work, scavenge or beg on the streets instead of going to school. Thank you in advance! #Charity #NonProfit #NotForProfit #MovementForGood #BenefactGroup #Nominate #Win

🥣 Kiama Kitchen is... Open! 🥣 Longer-term followers will remember the Thika area of Kenya was badly affected by flooding last April/May. As a result, school kitchens at Kiama and Muthuri Primary Schools were badly damaged, which meant cooks had to resort to preparing porridge on open fires. Porridge took longer to serve - eating into lesson time - and the cooking environment was smoky and open to the elements. 👩🏾🍳 Thanks to donations from many of our supporters - and a generous grant from the EA Foundation - work on a fabulous new kitchen at Kiama Primary School was completed on New Year's Eve and they can once again use their jiko cooking stove to prepare porridge too. You can see the new building in the photos, which Watoto Kwanza has named after our late co-founder, Peter Tyrer. 👷🏾♂️ Next week, work will begin at Muthuri Primary School, and we hope their new kitchen will also be ready in the next month or so. 😊 In the meantime, we'll leave you with happy teachers, happy cooks and happy children at Kiama! #Kenya #Floods #PrimaryEducation #Kitchen #EAFoundation #Charity #NonProfit #NotForProfit

🥳 Thank you Ben! 🥳 🎅 Hooray! Massive thank you to Ben who's (once again!) bagged us £1,000 in the Webmart Jumping Santa competition. We're thrilled he helped Santa successfully navigate the snowy landscape to be one of the Top 5 high scorers in this year's competition. 🥣 His prize is the equivalent of 11,111 mugs of porridge which would be enough porridge to help over 60 children go to school for an entire year. That's 60 children who won't need to work, scavenge or beg on the streets food and whose school attendance will flourish, leading to improved opportunities for a more prosperous future. Let's hope we get to go again 11 months from now! #Santa #Charity #Winning #Prize #NonProfit #NotForProfit #Kenya #Porridge #Christmas
