On Wednesday 18th December, Age UK Norfolk were delighted to accompany a group of older people that the Charity supports along to a festive Christmas lunch with all the trimmings Morrisons King's Lynn store. The staff were incredibly accommodating and everybody had a lovely time, bringing together people who had never met before and enjoying a good chat over some tasty food. In addition, the team at Morrisons had very kindly organised Christmas gifts for those in attendance, which were very gratefully received and will be eagerly opened come Christmas Day 🎁 A huge thank you to Morrisons for inviting us, we'd love to come back another year!

Today is Fuel Poverty Awareness Day. Six million households will be in fuel poverty this winter, with a growing mountain of debt putting pressure on those least able to afford it. This Winter, Age UK Norfolk have launched our ‘Temperature Check your Winter’ campaign aimed at helping people in later life prepare themselves for the colder months, this includes benefit checks and support making applications for welfare benefits. We’re delighted to have teamed up with @ageuk national for the ‘Warm Homes’ scheme which provides funding for us to carry out this vital work. Here at Age UK Norfolk, we have supported the older people of Norfolk to live well for over 75 years. Our fantastic staff and volunteers are trained on how to recognise and act when a safeguarding concern arises, ensuring the older person receives the support and assistance they require. One of our advocates Gemma told us "It’s often when visiting clients and supporting them in areas such as managing their finances, using their mobile phone/tablets that concerns of Adult Abuse may be identified. AUKN work closely with other agencies and partners such as POhWER, to recognise the signs of abuse, support and safeguard clients affected ensuring that their voice is heard, helping to make Norfolk a great place to grow older”. #safeguardingadultsweek
