THAT'S A RAP | Reclaimed asphalt pavement is produced by milling old roads that are at the end of their life span. The removed materials are taken to a plant for processing where they are crushed and graded – they can then be used again to make new asphalt products for our roads. RAP is usually moved by road, but after successfully trialling rail transfer of 6,000 tonnes between our Colnbrook and Purfleet sites, thanks to DCRail, we are now looking to see how we can expand this further 🚆 #RAP #Asphalt #Rail #LondonCapability #Logistics

SHORE THING | We've played a pivotal role in helping protect two Norfolk seaside resorts from ongoing coastal erosion. We shipped 70,000 tonnes of rock armour from our Glensanda Quarry in western Scotland to be used in the £25m Cromer and Mundesley Coastal Management Scheme. 1,000 tonnes of aggregates a time were transferred by barge twice a day, where main contractor Balfour Beatty plc then bolstered the shoreline. We recently helped New College Worcester to improve safety for its pupils thanks to a material donation to upgrade infrastructure 🧱️ The school for visually impaired students identified a number of areas of its site that needed safety and accessibility improvements made. We answered the call and teamed up with a host of contractors to carry out the work. We donated kerbing and specialist tactile paving for stairs, walkways and a training area for students. EYES ON THE PRIZE | Our very own Laura Jackson won the Young Leader Award at the Mineral Products Association's annual Health and Safety Awards. Laura was part of a groundbreaking knowledge transfer partnership with Leeds Beckett University focused on reducing transport-related risks in the construction industry. She used an innovative approach that included eye-tracking and sleep study, and it was so successful that we offered Laura, who was a research associate, a full-time position in a newly created role of behavioural safety business partner! Congratulations 🙌 #HealthAndSafety #Construction #AggregateIndustries

As part of our mission to work towards a circular economy, we're delighted to welcome a new site to our ECOCycle portfolio, enhancing our product offering that include a minimum of 10% construction demolition materials ♻️ Our most recent acquisition, Land Recovery based in Stoke-on-Trent, has been awarded third-party verification to sell products under the ECOCycle label, thus enhancing our national offering. Since we launched ECOCycle in September, we now have 39 verified sites that make certain your projects are more sustainable. Take a look at how we plan to reduce our dependence on virgin raw material https://lnkd.in/einuM9ja #ECOCycle #AggregateIndustries #Construction #Sustainability

ONE MILLION UP - Our eMixer truck helped mark a significant milestone in the building of the infrastructure for HS2 (High Speed Two) Ltd in the West Midlands. 🚄 Here it is at the Chattle Hill structure at the Delta Junction in North Warwickshire. Working with the main contractor Balfour Beatty VINCI we've contributed to a total of one million cubic metres of low carbon concrete being poured for the many structures required to carry the high speed rail line. ROCK SOLID IDEA | We’re thrilled to have helped protect an historic castle, built by Henry VIII, from coastal erosion – keeping it safe for years to come 🏰 Part of Hurst Castle in Milford on Sea, Hampshire, collapsed after the sea exposed and washed away some of its foundations. We worked with English Heritage and JT Mackey and Co, supplying 1,000 tonnes of our Armourstone product from the Bardon Hill Quarry in Leicestershire.
