🌍 Exciting News from Alga (Seaweed) Ltd! 🌍 We’re proud to finally announce that Alga (Seaweed) Ltd has been selected as one of the winners to participate in the prestigious Innovate UK’s Sustainable Medicines Manufacturing Innovation Programme (SMMIP)! This programme, in partnership with the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC), focuses on driving innovation in sustainable medicines manufacturing across the UK. Out of many inspiring projects, we are honoured to receive a share of the £1.3m seed funding to build a strong consortium and lay the groundwork for impactful advancements in this space. Our project, Sustainable Seaweed-Based Components in Medicines Manufacture, will explore how seaweed-based nanocellulose can replace microplastics in medicine manufacturing. This initiative aligns with our commitment to sustainability, innovation, and creating greener solutions for a healthier future. Why is this important? Traditional medicine manufacturing often generates significant waste and emissions. With this project, we aim to: 🌱 Reduce the environmental footprint of the pharmaceutical industry. ♻️ Innovate sustainable alternatives to non-biodegradable components. 🌍 Collaborate with seaweed producers, ecologists, technologists, and manufacturers to create scalable, eco-friendly solutions. This recognition is a testament to the hard work of our team and the transformative potential of seaweed-based innovation in addressing global sustainability challenges. We’re excited to work alongside industry leaders and visionaries to make sustainable medicines manufacturing a reality. Thank you to Innovate UK, Department of Health and Social Care, and the incredible network of partners for this opportunity. Together, we’re shaping a future where medicines are not only life-changing but also planet-friendly. 🌊 📖 Learn more about the programme and projects here. 🔗 Visit us at www.algaseaweedltd.com. #SustainableInnovation #SeaweedEconomy #GreenChemistry #NetZero #CircularEconomy #PharmaInnovation
