Due to the length of the load, a solution was engineered using a bolster configuration with a bespoke securing arrangement to allow the cargo to be transported around tight corners. During 2024 Allelys received 143 Special Order Permits - that's nearly 3 a week every week for the whole year! Special Order Permits give authorisation on behalf of the Secretary of State to move an abnormal load that exceeds 150te weight, 6.1m width, or rigid length exceeding 30m. The process generally takes 10-12 weeks to conclude, but more complex routes can take in excess of a year to finalise. As part of the M25 junction 28 improvements, Allelys have delivered a 54m superspan gantry. The 85te gantry was transported using a bolster configuration with 4 axles at the front and 6 axles at the back, allowing the transport unit to navigate tight corners. The design included a bespoke securing arrangement between the bolsters and the gantry. Once delivered, the gantry was installed stretching across 8 lanes of the M25 carriageway, where it will display overhead road signage and information to drivers when operational. #engineeringspecialists #heavylift #specialistransport #heavytransport

As abnormal transport specialists, there are routes that we complete on a regular basis and the route from Stafford to Ellesmere Port is one of them. However, our vast equipment fleet enables us to engineer a solution specific to the project cargo rather than specific to the route. Typically, the size of cargo that travels this route requires a two day transport operation utilising one of our girder frames. However, with a weight of 110te and a height of 4,460mm, a solution was engineered to transport this unit on a 5 bed 5 trailer configuration. This provided greater manoeuvrability, allowing the transport team to navigate hold points quicker than they normally would with a girder frame. With poor weather forecast for the second day of transport, this quicker navigation allowed the team to complete the move in a single day. #heavylift #specialisttransport #specialistengineering #heavytransport

At the end of the year Allelys transported this heritage steam locomotive BR riddles 4MT 80079. This 67te loco was built in 1954 and was the last of a series of transports that we completed for Severn Valley Railway in 2024. #engineeringspecialists #locomotive #heavylift #secialisttransport #heavytransport

Seven Hours, One Complex Installation: A Look Back at the Castleton Junction Bridge Installation Reflecting on one of our major accomplishments of 2024, the Allelys team completed the installation of the Castleton Junction railway bridge over the M62 motorway in just 7 hours. After a comprehensive ECI phase, 40 axle lines of SPMT were used to straddle the motorway and carefully manoeuvred the bridge from the compound to the installation site. Once in position, 8 hydraulic climbing jacks were employed to ensure the bridge was installed with absolute precision.
