𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗛2𝗩𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 Following our recent acquisition of the specialist old world importer, H2Vin, the integration is moving swiftly, and we're thrilled to officially introduce all the H2Vin team who are now part of Alliance. This change is not only greatly enriching our portfolio with the newly combined strength and breadth of producers but also adds the expertise and skills of new people. Joining us are the founders of H2Vin, 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘇 and 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗸𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗦. 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗻, who began his career as a chef near Avignon before moving to the UK and has over 30 years of experience in bringing quality wines to top UK restaurants and hotels, will be enhancing our fine wine selection in the Buying team as a Director of Fine Wine. 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁, who has held prestigious roles including Executive Sommelier at Michelin two-starred Capital Hotel Group London and is one of the fewer than 300 people to earn the renowned Master Sommelier certification, will continue to work his magic with customers as a Director of Prestige Sales. We also welcome 𝗚𝗲𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗲, who brings her extensive experience in prestige on trade sales; she will be working with the Alliance sales team to develop opportunities across the London fine dining scene. 𝗝𝗼 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗻𝘀 and 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲 𝗞𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻-𝗕𝗿𝘂𝗻𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶 will continue to look after customers, managing their sales logistics and providing the excellent customer service support expected from our London office. This exclusive event featured a seated masterclass and a vertical tasting of MR de Compostella, showcasing ten exceptional vintages from 2012 to 2022. An expert panel chaired by Greg Sherwood MW (A Fine Wine Safari) eloquently placed the importance and ground-breaking nature of MR in the context of the South African wine industry. Matt Wilkin MS contributed to the discussions, while Bruwer and Mzo led guests through the vertical, highlighting the unique conditions of each vintage and the incredible consistency and beautiful tannin management throughout. They explained how the terroir of the Polkadraai Hills, the newest and smallest ward in Stellenbosch, with its unique decomposed dolomite granite and sandstone clay soils, played a crucial role in the exceptional quality of these wines.
