About us
We believe it is a basic human right that every human being has the food they need to survive, each day of their lives. We are solving this with what we call Ocean Agriculture - a solution that pushes the human race forward without sacrificing the natural world around us. Our crops are genetically fortified so that they may grow and thrive in an ocean environment. Similar to hydroponics, our plants draw their nutrients directly from the saltwater around them whilst being supported by our original ocean farm design.

Learn about ALORA’s non-GMO way We’ve covered DNA and gene editing before, but what can we do with it? Editing DNA lets us tweak an organism's genes in powerful ways—like inserting new genes (transgenic) or turning on existing ones that have been repressed over time. Take rice, for example. Its DNA has genes for salt resistance, but millions of years of evolution have kept these genes switched off. Why? Because rice didn't always need to deal with salty environments. 🌊 But we see the potential. At Alora, we tap into this hidden power, reactivating those dormant genes to give rice incredible resilience against salinity. 🌱 We are here to push the limits of what’s possible, using science to make an impact that matters. 🌾🚀 #Genes #DNA #Organisms #Life

🍚Food is one of the most basic human needs—right up there with water and air. Yet, 733 million people are facing hunger, even though we produce enough to feed everyone. On top of that, 2.8 billion people don't have access to a healthy diet. How can we move forward with such disparity? At ALORA 🌊, we believe that the way we produce food needs to change. 🌱 Traditional methods are not enough to meet global demand sustainably. We need to look beyond and rethink how we grow our food—making it greener, more accessible, and healthier for people everywhere. We are on a mission to transform food production, because everyone deserves the right to food, and we are working to make that a reality. 🌾💚 #WorldFoodDay #Sustainability #Alora

🌍 On World Environmental Health Day, we are reminded of how crucial it is to keep our planet healthy. After all, this is our home! 🌱 Taking care of the Earth should always be a priority, and how we source our food needs to reflect that responsibility. Unfortunately, current food production methods are damaging the environment, and rice — a staple for 3.5 billion people — significantly contributes to this problem. 🌾 Rice farming accounts for up to 12% of global methane emissions, making it a major driver of greenhouse gas emissions and environmental degradation. At ALORA, we are fully focused on changing that. We are dedicated to making rice production more sustainable because when we protect our resources, we protect our planet and ourselves. 🌊 💙 Join us in this mission! 💪🌍 #WorldEnvironmentalHealthDay #Sustainability #AloraMission

What an Incredible Way to Start!🤩🌎 Our CEO, Luke Young, has just begun his adventure at the One Young World program, and we’re beyond excited to have him representing Alora’s voice on a global stage. Surrounded by visionary leaders and changemakers, Luke is joining a cohort of founders driving the future of technology and sustainability. The journey started with an inspiring pre-event by Audi Environmental Foundation, where the group heard from Franziska Trautmann, CEO of Glass Half Full, a company turning recycled glass into sand and gravel for coastal restoration and disaster relief. It’s been a fantastic opportunity for Luke to connect with other passionate leaders, share insights on sustainability, and discuss the role of machine learning in tackling environmental challenges. With the program in full swing and the opening night just hours away, we look forward to seeing how this experience will inspire Alora’s mission to grow rice in the oceans and help feed the planet without compromising its future. Thanks to the Audi Environmental Foundation and the One Young World team for this honor! Stay tuned for more updates from this exciting journey!
