Empowering people to live with kindness towards our planet 💚

About us

We are a charity founded by 16 year-old Amy Bray which aims to inspire people to take action against the climate and ecological crisis by living more consciously and uniting in communities of change. We value positivity, hope, peace and inclusivity, helping people take all the steps they can to create a kinder, thriving world. If one person was to spread a message to ten people and the next day those ten people each spread that message to ten more and so on, then it would only take 10 days for the whole world to have been inspired. No action is ever too small to make a difference- join our community now and help us find Another Way!

Imagine you’re standing at the edge of a woodland and you’ve just spotted a small bird in the trees above. You stop and marvel for a moment as it effortlessly hops from branch to branch – did it migrate thousands of miles to get here? How did it know where to come? Is this tree its home? What does this little bird’s future have in store? How long before the habitat it relies on disappears? What are we willing to do to ensure its survival? A new study addresses this very question by evaluating the public’s willingness to pay for the recovery of endangered species in the UK, specifically in England. The researchers wanted to answer one of conservation’s most difficult questions: is society willing to financially back efforts to save endangered species, and if so, how much? The findings could be a game changer for conservation funding, especially as biodiversity loss and habitat destruction reach critical levels. For more on this study and a cost breakdown of how much the public is willing to spend on nature, check out the full article: https://lnkd.in/eiNbfp5z Translation by Joe Walker #translatingscience #anotherway #climate #sciencecommunication #environment #sustainability #conservation #wildlife #worldwildlifeday #uknature #nature #funding

  • How is caring about the environment an act of caring for the generations of human beings we will never meet? What is the importance of local community action? What sustainable energy options exist for the UK? Should environmental action be focused around individual passions? How do we make people across political aisles care about the environment? What role does classism play in the environmental movement? Do the Lib Dems have a plan to bring their sustainable ideas to life? Are there schemes in place to help young people meet the up-front costs that come with choosing a more sustainable lifestyle? How can young people get their voices heard by politicians? Episode 6 of the Power of 10 Podcast is now live, featuring guest Tim Farron! Tim Farron has been the MP for Westmorland and Lonsdale since 2005 and served as President of the Liberal Democrats from 2011 to 2015. In July 2015, Tim was elected leader of the Lib Dems, but stood down in June 2017 following the General Election. He is now the party's spokesperson for the Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs. Science teacher who's morphed into a very enthusiastic communicator for climate & sustainability education. Education Lead for TerraLigo, Regional Coordinator for the Ministry of Eco Education and a Climate Ambassador.

After a few requests for a signed copy, I have printed a limited number of the 1st edition of 'The diary of a teacher on the verge of climate breakdown' by Melody Bird. This is probably the only book that documents the trials and tribulations of a teacher struggling to maintain her sanity in our rapidly changing world. It contains a splash of wry humour, a tad of political punditry and copious amounts of scientifically-backed musings on how we can move towards a more sustainable world. 10% of all sales will go towards the inspirational and incredible work of Another Way to support their approach to youth-led environmental education in schools and community groups. Cost £10 plus P&P. Signed by Melody or Meryl as you desire!

  • Coral reefs are among the most diverse and valuable ecosystems on the planet. They support marine life, protect coastlines, and provide a livelihood for millions of people. But these underwater cities are under serious threat from climate change, pollution, and destructive fishing. In response, scientists and conservationists are actively rebuilding reefs to bring them back to life. But can restoration truly revive these ecosystems to their former glory? A recent study set out to answer this, tracking how corals grow over time and whether restored reefs can reclaim the structure and ecological role of their wild counterparts. • Last week, we hosted an event in collaboration with The Iris Project to bring funders and young environmental leaders together. We were thrilled to help facilitate so many amazing conversations about the importance of backing youth-led environmental organisations 🌱 We started the day with a fantastic panel led by Amy Bray with Ellen Bradley, Jack Durant, and Hayley Roffey setting the scene by sharing some of the challenges they have faced as funders and fundraisers, and what meaningful relationships can look like. We then facilitated a workshop session to brainstorm solutions to the current funding gap for youth-led organisations. Millie Edwards from the Iris Project said, 'The energy in the room was electric, and it really felt like the exact space and dialogue that both funders and young people have been craving. Amy did an epic job facilitating the panel and leading the workshop - the conversations felt fresh, and the ideas being shared were genuinely innovative.' We received loads of amazing feedback from the funders and young people in the room, who agreed that new partnerships had been forged, and perspectives bridged. For some young people, accessing funding can be very challenging, but their work is critical towards fixing our future. We hope that this will have helped many to bring their projects to life! Look out for our white paper from the event, detailing guidance for funders. A huge thank you to The Conduit and all attendees! Together, we can change the world 🌍️ #funding #youthled #youthprojects #environment #conservation #climate #education

Young leaders are driving bold, creative solutions to the climate crisis, fueled by their unique lived experiences. But there’s a big challenge holding them back: funding. Many youth-led organizations are seen as “too risky” and struggle to access the resources they need to grow and amplify their impact. Another Way is thrilled to be partnering with The Iris Project The Conduit and Environmental Funders Network to bring together young changemakers and funders to tackle these barriers head-on. Through thought-provoking discussions, hands-on activities, and plenty of opportunities to connect, we’ll uncover new ways to support youth-led movements and build powerful partnerships that can truly make a difference. 10:00-10:30 | Panel discussion with young founders 10:30-11:30 | Workshop: Challenges and Solutions 11:30-12:00 | Tea, coffee, & networking If you’re a young leader running a charity, movement, or CIC, or if you’re a funder focused on conservation, climate, education, or the environment, please get in touch with your interest in this event! #funding #youthled #youthprojects #environment #conservation #climate #education

Ecofeminism. Irish ‘Seanchai.’ Favourite David Attenborough documentaries. The latest Power of 10 Podcast episode with Ruby Free discusses all this and more! We ask questions such as, how important are words in inspiring climate action? What is the link between environmentalism and feminism? How do our perceptions of nature change when we have access to wild spaces? What is true wildness? Do actions like beach cleanups and tree planting actually have any impact amidst the enormity of the climate crisis? How do we turn anger and pessimism into action? At age 21, Ruby moved to the remote Rathlin Island to work at an RSPB reserve, an experience which forever altered her perception of nature and wild places. Ruby is now an author, campaigner, and conservation biologist who works to help individuals and communities rediscover their connection to nature and its extraordinary gifts.
