Happy New Year! The Tourism Consultant's Network (TCN), part of the Tourism Society, kicks off 2025 with the first of its webinar's on Wednesday 22 January, 12.30 to 2pm on "Overtourism: A Comparative Perspective". The term ‘overtourism’ was aired a great deal in the media in 2024 with learned articles in leading newspapers exploring the phenomenon to reports of major anti-tourism demonstrations appearing in newspapers and social media in diverse locations from the Canary Islands to Paris, Bangkok and Bali, with some of the most determined opposition being seen in Barcelona and the Balearics. The webinar aims to explore this phenomenon and to draw some possible insights into the strengths and weaknesses of mass tourism management through three comparative case studies.
