🚀 Exciting insights were shared at the recent session on ‘Shaping the Future of Welsh Towns’ hosted by Antur Cymru Enterprise at The Barn at Brynich in Brecon. It was great to be able to share knowledge, practical tips, and outcomes with Innovation Strategy from Project ReValue for reducing waste and creating sustainable business practices in a circular economy for Welsh town businesses! 🌿♻️ It was an honour to have the support of Cefin Campbell MS, Jane Dodds MS (Ymchwil y Senedd, Senedd Cymru), David Chadwick MP, Mayor of Usk Town Kay Peacock and Mayor of Brecon John Powell. Sharing these learnings and outputs with key stakeholders and decision makers is crucial so that the challenges, opportunities, and adoption of sustainable practices are disseminated for the long-term sustainable development goals of Wales and wider regions. Together, we are paving the way for a greener, more sustainable future. Let's continue to innovate and collaborate for a brighter, waste-free tomorrow!🌱💡 Powys County Council | Tyfu Canolbarth Cymru | Growing Mid Wales | #bioeconomy #sustainablefuture #circulareconomy #biorefinery #biotechnology #syntheticbiology #businesssupport #innovation #biobasedmaterials #wales #ukspf #communityengagement #researchimpact

Free sugars can appear in the ingredients list as 'sugar' but there are other words and terms to look out for which also mean sugar has been added, these include: Honey, maple syrup, sugar, molasses/treacle, agave syrup, nectars, coconut sugar, dextrose, fructose, glucose, sucrose, maltose, corn syrup, fruit juice concentrate, isoglucose and crystalline sucrose. Ingredients are typically listed in descending order of weight, so if it appears at the beginning of the ingredients list - the product is likely to have more free sugars than one in which sugars are listed at the end.

Did you know that xylitol occurs naturally in small amounts in certain fruits and vegetables, including but not limited to plums, strawberries, raspberries, cauliflowers, white mushrooms, spinach, onions, carrots, bananas and pumpkins. Humans and many other animals produce trace amounts during the metabolism of carbohydrates.

How much sugar can we or should we really consume? The government recommends that free sugars - sugar added to food and drink and sugars found naturally in honey, syrups, fruit, juices etc should not make up more than 5% of the energy you get from food and drink daily. Meaning: - Adults should have no more than 30 g/day - Children aged 7-10 years should have no more than 24 g/day - Children aged 4-6 years should have no more than 19 g/day Sugars also occur naturally in foods such as fruit, vegetables and milk, but we do not need to cut down on these types of sugars. Yet a can of cola can have as much as 39 g in a 12 oz/355 ml can 😵 https://lnkd.in/edp7yuFs
