Art Psychotherapist (MA) Delivered a workshop at the joint international conference of ISfAM and IAMM. Occupational Therapy (BSc Hons)
Wonderful experience at the Wales AHP Annual Conference in Cardiff yesterday. I feel really honoured to have been a part of it, and to be able share the Brief Art Therapy Group developed in Swansea Bay CAMHS. Reflecting on my journey to this point as a CAMHS Art Therapist, I feel really privileged to have had these opportunities. I began my career as an Occupational Therapist and then progressed to an Art Psychotherapist, so identifying as an Allied Health Professional is important to me. To work in CAMHS and to be able to provide Art Therapy to children, young people and their families is something I'm really passionate about, and I'm really proud of the Art Therapy Group project. It is experiences such as these that support connections, encourage innovation and inspire service developments. So thank you to HEIW and Welsh Government for organising such a wonderful conference!

ASK AN ART THERAPIST!💬🗣️ We have asked Louise Smart (Art Therapist and professional advisor) your questions regarding starting out as a new practitioner. You can read the article here: https://lnkd.in/eXxjp7Ex For the upcoming InSight articles, you’ve expressed interest in exploring the experiences of art therapists working with LGBTQ+ clients, as well as their experience working in controlled settings like prisons. 👇🏼Below is a link where you can anonymously submit questions about these topics, and any other topics you’d like art therapists to address. ✨Next online meet up!✨ 📆Thursday 28th November 7:30-8:30pm. We are lucky enough to be joined by Abi Weale (Art Psychotherapist) who will be delivering the session on the brief thematic Art Therapy group that has been developed within the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) in Swansea Bay. The presentation will focus on the potential role this group can have in supporting the mental health difficulties of CYP, particularly those who might struggle to engage in solely talking therapies. We'll also be exploring the value of including the parent/carer in the group process and observing the CYP-parent/carer relationship. We'll consider what impact this can have on CYP mental health and wellbeing. The presentation will be followed by a short experiential activity related to one of the group session themes. We'll then have some time for reflection and any questions. 💻 For more information and joining link, sign in to your BAAT member zone and visit the forum
