How can the art world actively reduce its environmental impact? 🌱 When our CEO & founder, Annika Erikson, saw the need for a smarter, greener way to manage collections, she created more than just a tool—she built Articheck as a sustainability ally for the industry. Since then, alongside Ki Culture, we’ve been challenging the #artworld to rethink its impact and take real action. Are you ready to join the movement?

YOU ARE NOT ALONE! And when it comes to sustainability, it is important to know that you don't have to have all the answers, to be the expert in everything, or do it yourself. There is strength in numbers and improvement in co-creation and belonging. Sustainability is best done together. A huge shout out and heartfelt thank you to our friends and partners who have been our greatest allies and support systems Teiger Foundation, Articheck, Gallery Climate Coalition (GCC) @haleymellin Julie's Bicycle, (SiC) Sustainability in Conservation, Conserv @kimkraczon @ an many more!

Did you know that in-person couriers can account for up to 75% of an exhibition’s carbon footprint? ✈️ As art biennales and global events continue to promote international exchange, we must ask: what is the environmental cost of transporting artworks and people across the world? In a recent Frieze article, Joshua Segun-Lean highlights the art industry’s carbon footprint as a growing concern that needs to be addressed. At Articheck, we’re committed to protecting both art and the planet, and we hope to see more organisations joining this important conversation! “We used to have to bring big file folders with us when traveling, get colleagues to scan stuff, upload images, and store them separately from the report. It was hard to figure out which images went with which report sometimes. We had to make new reports all the time instead of adding new details to an existing report. Basically, it was a mess, but it was how everyone did it.” — Head Technician, Lisson Gallery. For this international gallery, #conditionreporting during the chaos of #artfair prep was a time-consuming, stressful process—until they went digital. See how Lisson Gallery transformed their workflow, saved time, and reduced stress with Articheck. 👉 Read the full case-study here: https://lnkd.in/dCxMzuSp

Honoring Women in Conservation: A Call for Change 🌍✨ Yesterday, on International Women in Science Day, we celebrated the incredible contributions of women in art and cultural heritage conservation. Yet, as we honor these achievements, we must also confront the barriers still in place, especially around diversity, equity, and transparency in the field. AIC just published a report revealing that most conservators in the U.S. are women (nearly 80%) and predominantly white (70%), with many facing financial instability, stagnant wages, and limited career advancement. These struggles have been exacerbated by global crises like the pandemic and rising living costs, and disproportionately affect women and underrepresented communities. Despite these challenges, there is hope. More organizations are actively seeking diverse interns and students. However, true progress requires radical transparency about the realities of the profession. Recruiting diverse talent without addressing the field’s financial instability, lack of benefits, and structural issues is both unfair and unethical. As we celebrate the women who have shaped the field, let’s commit to dismantling the barriers that hold back future generations. The future of art conservation must be diverse, equitable, and sustainable. Let’s make it happen. Together. 💪🏽🌎 #InternationalWomenin scienceDay #Conservation #DiversityInConservation #EquityInConservation #WomenInConservation #CulturalHeritage #TransparencyInConservation #GenderEquity #DiversityMatters

We know how much the #LAwildfires have impacted so many, and our hearts go out to everyone affected. It’s inspiring to hear stories of those who have gone above and beyond to protect others and our fragile heritage. Do head over to J. Paul Getty Trust to read more. "Getty's emergency preparedness specialist was at the Getty Villa testing the fire alarm system when he got the alert that a brush fire had broken out about 2 miles from the museum." Thanks to his quick action, along with the efforts of the entire Getty staff and the brave firefighters, vital protections were put in place. As an LA native and art conservator, our CEO Annika Erikson has also shared practical advice for those caring for artworks in the aftermath of the wildfires. 🔗 You can read the full blog post here: https://lnkd.in/dM9iabUK
Wildfires are sadly a way of life in Southern California. Getty prepares for emergencies year-round, including the morning the Palisades Fire broke out. Les Borsay, Getty's emergency preparedness specialist, was at the Getty Villa testing the fire alarm system when he got the alert that a brush fire had broken out about 2 miles from the museum. What happened from there? Read the accounts of staff who were part of the Getty Villa's emergency response: https://gty.art/4jypCkC
