  • Project completion. A long time coming giving the weather conditions we faced and ecological restrictions, however ASU are happy to have this challenging project signed off for our client and the locals. This strategic 18’ main was at risk due to erosion of the river bed, exposing it to the elements and increasing risk of damage in what was already a high risk flood area. We successfully installed the 450mm PE bypass underneath the river in a steel sleeve via pneumatic ramming, this technique was used given the challenging ground conditions and minimal risk of contamination. Once the sleeve was installed allowed us to slip the new water main through future proofing any maintenance required. All works completed under pressure with no interruption to any customers or the wider network. Added bonus: when all river works were completed the wildlife was returned and post sampling shows that this maintenance has made a huge improvement of water quality and turbidity compared to pre works sampling. For any utility works do not hesitate to get in touch with AS-Utilities.
