Reflecting on #SpaceCommScotland2024 Thank you to everyone who stopped by! 9 members of our team travelled from all over Europe to crew the booth for the biggest event to come to Scotland since the IAC. We were also pleased to host a successful drop-in session for signing the Statement for a Responsible Space Sector in collaboration with European Space Agency - ESA. Our COO, Daria F., engaged in key discussions on skills and communications and contributed to a panel focused on sustainability in the #Space sector and its benefits to various industries. Additionally, we celebrated the successful return of #SpaceBar! 🌌 With Jodi Bartin, Yvette Hopkins, Stuart Black & Søren Gram Riisgaard served the audience and hosts, Rebekah Russwurm & Andrew Fournet with topics ranging from sustainable spaceports, ancillary services in the space industry and international collaboration as a sector! 🛰️ Revitalizing the Hindon River with satellite technology? That’s what we do at Hydrosat! Hydrosat recently welcomed more than 10 delegates from India on the Hindon Root Sensing (HiROS) program, a ground breaking initiative funded by NWO (Dutch Research Council) (Netherlands) and DST (India), aiming to restore the Hindon River through scalable water and solute balance models and informed farmer actions. 💧 Why the Hindon River and Its Basin Matter The Hindon River and its basin are lifelines for northern India, supporting millions of farmers and local communities. Their health directly impacts: ▪️ Agriculture: The river provides critical water for irrigation, but pollution and declining water levels are threatening crop yields. ▪️Water security: Communities rely on the river for drinking water, now at risk due to industrial waste and agricultural runoff. ▪️Ecosystems: The biodiversity of the basin is under threat, with significant repercussions for regional economic and ecological stability. Revitalizing this vital resource is crucial to sustain livelihoods, food security, and biodiversity in the region. 🔎 What We Do At Hydrosat, we enable sustainable water management solutions for the Hindon Basin by combining satellite technology with field data. Our work addresses two key challenges: ▪️Water quality degradation : Industrial and agricultural runoff, such as chemicals from factories and pesticides used in farming, has severely polluted the river. This contamination affects crop health by disrupting soil quality and makes drinking water unsafe for nearby communities. ▪️Groundwater overextraction : Excessive pumping of groundwater for irrigation, especially for crops that require a lot of water like rice, has caused a significant drop in the water table. As a result, local wells are drying up, and the region faces increasing water scarcity, which reduces agricultural productivity. By integrating advanced thermal infrared satellite data with local eco-hydrological models, we deliver precise, actionable insights to support targeted interventions. 🤝 Join the movement!
