Yesterday Audley hosted renowned historian, educator, and Britain’s foremost chronicler of modern prime ministers, Sir Anthony Seldon. Sir Anthony joined us at our offices on St Martin’s Lane for a breakfast briefing looking at how political leadership fared in 2024, democracy’s busiest year. Sir Anthony drew on his wide-reaching knowledge of politics past and present for a discussion with Audley Director Rolf Merchant about what makes or breaks political leaders, particularly British prime ministers. To lead Britain in the modern day, you need: ▪️ To take time to think and reflect, which too few PMs have done ▪️ To deliver growth for Britain, “without which we have nothing” ▪️ The ability to listen, an essential leadership quality ▪️ A strategic vision, which a good leader will use to build a narrative that engages people and brings them on the journey towards realising the vision.
