He is a vocal advocate of the tutoring profession as a Director of The Tutors' Association. Stanford University's new research study explores how AI-enabled tutors can improve outcomes for their learners in live tutoring lessons. Read more below.
“AI’s best use is determining what a student knows and needs to know. But people are better at caring, motivating and engaging - and celebrating successes” I would add, people are also better at accountability, kindness, creative problem solving, and engagement. This powerful new study from Stanford on Human-AI approach (also, the first ever randomized control trial on the subject) goes on to explore the effectiveness of AI-assisted tutoring in improving math skills. In many ways, it supports what we have believed at Augmentiv from the start - AI will play a pivotal role in enhancing the work of human tutors, rather than replacing them (in stark contrast to those viral videos from earlier this year of an AI-tutor doing very patient math lessons with a student on their iPad!) AI can streamline tutoring workflow, personalize tutoring materials, personalize learning paths, and provide instant feedback to both the tutor and the learner, all extremely powerful use cases.
