In our employee spotlight series, we’d love you to meet Ben Laycock, a valued member of our team at Auto Marine Cables Limited with a remarkable background in both the manufacturing sector- and emergency services 🚒 Over the years, Ben has worn many hats, from working on the factory floor to leading product development efforts. He even balanced a previous role with one as a Firefighter & Crew Manager with Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service, responding to emergencies at any given time whilst also doing his primary role! Ben's passion for using technology to solve problems led him to his current role as Systems Integrator at AMC where he is instrumental in designing new applications and integrating them with our ERP, MES, and other systems -all part of our vision to create an interconnected smart factory. His innovative mindset and experience in product development, where he once designed a control system to optimise testing processes, make him a perfect fit for this ambitious project. Outside of work, Ben is an avid runner preparing for the Manchester Marathon and the Hyrox event in London. He also enjoys climbing, with a preference for lead climbing, and spends his free time tinkering with electronics using Raspberry Pi, Arduino, and his 3D printer. Ben's dedication and diverse skill set are driving forces behind our journey toward peak efficiency at AMC. For our latest employee spotlight series, let’s introduce you to our Head of Material Planning and Logistics, Stephanie Mitchell who, it’s fair to say, has had an exciting career to date – marked by a range of very different experiences across multiple industries. Stephanie began her journey in manufacturing, specialising in export, before relocating to Germany, where she managed civilian staff on army barracks. From there, she moved into project management within the construction industry and later transitioned into the aerospace sector 🚧🚀 Twelve years ago, Stephanie shifted into material planning and logistics within the automotive industry, working for a tier 1 supplier to prestigious brands like Aston Martin, Jaguar Land Rover, and Ford. She quickly rose through the ranks (pun intended!), eventually becoming Head of Department and holding senior roles such as Head of Supply Chain and Head of Procurement. About a year ago, she brought her extensive experience to AMC, where she now manages all Dispatch, Assembly, Accessory, Purchasing, and Operations functions – and, in simple terms, plays a crucial role in keeping our supply chain management and logistics running smoothly and ensure we’re always moving in the right direction. 📈 When she’s not optimising our supply chain, Stephanie’s life outside of work is just as action-packed. An accomplished and talented baker, she enjoys creating celebration cakes – I’m sure many will have seen her recent ‘cable reel’ creation for our anniversary celebrations!
