Continental to unveil "invisible" #biometrics monitoring solution at #CES2025 The Invisible Biometrics Sensing Display, co-developed with trinamiX GmbH, tracks vital parameters of passengers in a vehicle using a camera and a laser projector installed behind the dashboard display. The solution, which recently received CES Innovation Award Honoree recognition in the 'Vehicle Tech and Advanced Mobility' category, detects passengers inside a car using 1.5MP near infrared camera and an eye-safe laser dot projector which are positioned behind a high-resolution OLED screen making them completely invisible to the naked eye. Automotive Interiors Expo Europe continues with Day 2. Here are a few highlights 💡 First-time exhibitor Toppan Group (Booth 1806) reveals its decorative printing technology from the interior decor industry. Yasuaki Okita, design manager, said, “Although new to the car interiors industry, we are combining our decorative printing technology with future automotive applications.” 💡 The Spanish Pavilion at Booth 1708 is at the expo showcasing Spanish technologies. Munoz Lucinio, ICEX representative, commented, “Automotive Interiors Expo is a great opportunity for the firms to get acquainted with the main market trends, while showing their innovations to a highly specialized audience of professionals.”  💡 Automotive Interiors World caught up with TITV e.V.'s Isabelle Grimm, ahead of her presentation. She commented, "As the journey toward automated and connected driving accelerates, vehicle interiors are being reimagined, with global trends enhancing ambiance, comfort and functionality.” 💡 DNP Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd. is at the expo (Booth 1618) to present its monomaterial PP decoration film. Hide Anzai explained, “Designed to adhere to PP resin during injection molding, the film offers improved recyclability, while enhancing automotive interior aesthetics with unique customizable patterns.” 💡Developments in cabin comfort and smart heating solutions are on display at Zoppas Industries Heating Element Technologies on Booth 1404. Alberto Rizzetto  explained, “Automotive Interiors Expo is a unique opportunity to connect with the competencies of customers and suppliers, keeping pace with the automotive transition.”   💡Booth 1324 is showcasing HAVER & BOECKER OHG's new generation of design mesh for day and night. “The next step is to combine the design and the function,” revealed Constantin Ostberg. 💡Managing director of Kunststoff-Institut Lüdenscheid Prüf- und Analyse GmbH (Booth 1442), Joerg Guenther, was at the expo as moderator and presenter. He commented, “I moderated the morning session and we talked about topology optimization of geometries, which is a system: intelligence is used, but not named as such, it’s computer-added engineering." 💡CTAG – Centro Tecnológico de Automoción de Galicia's Vanessa Ventosinos Louzao, who spoke earlier this afternoon, said, “Optimization of AC systems is critical, especially in electric vehicles." 💡Ash & Lacy Automotive's Emily Evans (New Product Zone) commented, "By using AI generative design, we can create optimized solutions for defined performance or physical functions." It's been a fantastic first day at Automotive Interiors Expo Europe! Here are a few highlights 💡 McLaren Automotive Ltd revealed the 2026 W1’s unique brief and interior design innovations. Senior design manager Steve Crijns, said, “The W1's unique aero concept had a significant effect on the interior design, requiring ergonomic requirements and solutions.” 💡 Reutlingen University VR Zone is showing how virtual reality is transforming interior design. The university's Prof. Michael Goretzky explained that they can “demonstrate the application and results on-site and introduce our new XR laboratory which can test and further develop applications and processes alongside companies". Booth 1200 💡 At the show entrance, the New Product Zone turns the spotlight on cutting-edge innovations that have been specifically designed for functionality, aesthetic appeal, compatibility and the overall passenger experience. There are solutions on display from the likes of Ash & Lacy, DNP Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd., VFP Ink Technologies, ORV MANUFACTURING, HELCOR-LEDER-TEC GmbH, JUMBO-Textil GmbH & Co. KG, Proell, Inc. and DiloGroup. Ash & Lacy's Jonathan Evans, said, "There are lots of exciting developments here that will allow designers to create beautiful, luxurious interiors.” 💡 Miguel Peixoto from CeNTI (Centre for Nanotechnology and Smart Materials) has been sharing the center’s mission to provide expertise and technologies that support industrial infrastructure in developing and prototyping innovative materials and products. “CeNTI develops new concepts and solutions that contribute to making the cabin a third living space, such as thermal comfort and energy efficiency,” he explained. Booth 1422 💡 @Elematec has introduced sustainable vegan leather made from eco-friendly cork. The company's Hiroyuki Ishihara said, “Cork is made from the bark of the cork oak, meaning these trees aren’t cut and can recover.” Booth 1702 💡 YHT has launched a new IMD film, blending design, texture and durability. “Our IMD film has 2H hardness post-injection, excellent tensile strength and customizable touch texture finishes to provide clients with more design options,” said the company's Aillin Chen.
