In our latest interview at #CGHE, Johann Wiebe from Hydrogen Standard discussed with Rosa Urdaneta P. and Patxi Sarasola our pivotal role in shaping the green hydrogen market. At AVEVA, we lead the way in industrial software by viewing the hydrogen industry as a holistic value chain. Our commitment to fostering collaboration and data sharing among industry players is setting new benchmarks from conceptual design to operations and maintenance. Building on our expertise in digital continuity and data utilization across the entire asset lifecycle, we bring experience from established markets like oil and gas into the hydrogen sector. Our software solutions are crafted to enhance hydrogen plant design, optimize production costs, and provide advanced simulation capabilities. Some key points from the interview include: 🚨 Challenges in the Electrolyzer Market: We address the intermittency of renewable power and its impact on hydrogen production costs. 🚨 Next-Generation Simulation Platform: Our solution offers steady-state, hydraulic, and dynamic simulations, helping to decouple intermittent power from hydrogen supply. 🚨 Scenario Analysis Tool: We provide transparency, identify viable designs, and ensure production costs align with market expectations. AVEVA’s innovative tools are paving the way for more efficient engineering projects, enabling agile execution and seamless information transfer between project phases. 🌍 Reflecting back on recently leading the AVEVA #COP29 delegation, I’m struck by the imperative for business to double-down on driving ambitious climate action. 🪧 The formal UN COP process is designed to be iterative, inclusive and grounded in dialogue. More work on mitigation and finance are needed to deliver the Paris Agreement but progress was made in Baku against a challenging backdrop. Here are my top four reasons for remaining optimistic about the UN process, beyond the headline outcomes (expertly covered already by Carbon Brief): 💻 🍃 75 countries endorsed the COP29 Declaration on Green Digital Action and the transformative potential of digital was formally recognized with the first-ever Digitalization Day in COP history. 🤝 🌐 There was unanimous support for renewing the mandate of the UN High Level Champions until 2030, showing that across-the-board governments value coordination efforts with business and other non-State stakeholders. 🎯⚡ The UK and Brazil announced ambitious new national plans to curb emissions and called jointly on other countries to commit to similarly aggressive targets to keep global temperature rises to 1.5C. 👩🔬 🚸 A10-year extension was secured for the main program that advances gender-responsive approaches under the UNFCCC, as women continue to be on the front lines of climate impact and advocacy. There's no doubt the road to Belém will continue to be bumpy. We can and must continue to build momentum and raise the bar on climate action, to ensure agreements reached so far are not just a firm floor but a springboard. #RadicalCollaboration #COP29Reflections #ClimateLeadership
