“When I grow into a scientist…” (Sam, aged 4) We like inspiring children of all ages to think about careers in #STEM. Earlier this month, we had the opportunity to combine doing just that with our first fundraiser for our charity partner Parents And Children Together (PACT) UK – hosting three The Royal Institution science shows in one day. 🔗 Learn more about our mission: https://lnkd.in/emeHAViH 🔗 Learn about our work in the community: https://lnkd.in/e2TnR8DY #delivery #security #technology #inspire #inspiring #learners

Jason Holmes and Ian Moore were presented with AWE’s Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award at an awards ceremony at London’s Victory Services Club last week. Talent Acquisition’s Jason works tirelessly to raise AWE’s profile with the Armed Forces community and wrote the Gold Award submission. Ian is Head of AWE’s veterans, reservists and cadet volunteers’ community. The Employer Recognition Scheme is open to organisations who have pledged their support for the Armed Forces Covenant. AWE joins an exclusive club of fewer than 200 organisations that have been recognised by the UK Government with the highest badge of honour for supporting the Armed Forces community. AWE CEO Nick Elliott, said, “I am delighted that AWE has been presented with the Gold Award, thank you to everyone who supported us in achieving the highest badge of honour. As a veteran, I understand the value the veteran and reservist communities can bring to any organisation as well as the importance of supporting them. This award demonstrates AWE’s commitment to being a top choice employer for the wider Armed Forces community.” We encourage applications from anyone looking for a career outside of the military and offer amazing opportunities and a commitment to training and development to progress your career. 🔗 See our current vacancies - https://lnkd.in/eRFgRw4 #ArmedForcesCovenant

AWE and return-to-work specialists STEM Returners are partnering for a third time to continue their drive to help science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) professionals return to work after a career break. The new programme will welcome 15 professionals into AWE across these multiple disciplines. There is a well-known skills shortage in the UK engineering industry but, despite a clear demand for people, talented and educated returners are often overlooked. The STEM Returners’ programme aims to eliminate these barriers by giving candidates real work experience and mentoring during their placement, as well as supporting them to seamlessly adjust to life back in work. Since it launched in 2017, more than 500 professionals have found a permanent role. 🔗 For more info visit: https://lnkd.in/eNbq9pba #STEMExcellence #NationalSecurity #Defence #Technology #AdvancedTechnology #IndustryExpert #SpecialistSkills #Innovation #AWE

This December marks 70 years since former Prime Minister, Winston Churchill, made two important visits to AWRE, now AWE Nuclear Security Technologies. His visits to AWRE were key to his foreign and defence policy. His first visit to Aldermaston in December 1954 allowed him to understand the early thermonuclear research that was being developed. His second trip to the site was 67 years ago in December 1957. Records from this visit suggest that understanding pioneering engineering research was the focus of Churchill’s briefings. Fast forward to today, our engineering and technology teams continue to drive innovation, developing cutting-edge radiation sensor networks. These advancements play a vital role in protecting our nation’s borders and identifying undeclared radioactive materials, supporting national security. 🔗 Discover how advanced technology research supports our mission in national defence: https://lnkd.in/erA-hSke #STEMExcellence #NationalSecurity #Defence #Technology #AdvancedTechnology #IndustryExpert #SpecialistSkills #Innovation #AWE
