🔥 Big tech is burning the planet... 🔥 Something often glossed over while we press for an ever more connected culture and the incessant drive towards everything 'Ai' is the environmental footprint that has. Google have just released their ESG figures and it shows that their emissions are up by nearly 50% since 2019 and a staggering 13% since just last year. Meanwhile, Microsoft announced theirs has jumped by 30% since 2020 solely attributed to 'Ai', while they make pseudo attempts at net zero by buying 8 million carbon credits from BTG Pactual in what is said to be the largest-ever sale. Amazon saw a marginal decrease of 0.4% in 2023 in their footprint, however, that masks the fact that they produce a massive 71.3 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent emitted last year, which is roughly twice that of Ireland. In contrast at Veribli and Axsi Systems Ltd, we do not play games with carbon credits, rather we host our systems on servers specifically powered by green energy. We do not use AWS, Microsoft or Google Clouds for that very reason. As tech leaders and business owners, we have a choice, the cost of 100% green-powered servers is slightly higher than using the big cloud systems, and of course, you need the technical capabilities to manage your own services, but since our background is creating bespoke cloud systems outside the big players we now employ those skills to ensure we do what we can to reduce our impact. Don't be fooled by the carbon credits trick, it is like a magician's misdirection in the French Drop Trick a magic disappearing act which is of course fake.
