We’re thinking more ambitiously about how our stores can offer our trade customers even more. With colleagues like Nicola Battle, Tradepoint at B&Q supports traders every day with their work. We strive to make happy homes, and by supporting our traders, we can do just that, so together we’re making it all happen. It’s great to be kicking off the new year with the news that we’ve reached agreement to buy five more Homebase stores, this time in the UK, adding to the news of the agreement to buy three stores in the Republic of Ireland on 24 December. We’ll be transforming all eight stores into new B&Q stores once the acquisition process completes. #BandQ

Delighted to start the New Year with news that we’ve reached agreement to buy five more Homebase stores – this time in the UK, adding another 25,000 square metres selling space and bringing the B&Q offer to more customers. The five UK stores are in addition to the agreements reached to buy three stores in the Republic of Ireland.   Subject to approvals, we’re aiming to start converting the first sites to B&Q stores in the next few months, bringing B&Q’s and TradePoint’s extensive offer of home improvement products and services to more customers. As well as our marketplace of 1.2 m products at diy.com, they’ll have access to our Kingfisher own exclusive brands, our installations and in-store services, our TradePoint offer, and our click & collect and delivery options.    We look forward to welcoming new customers to these stores and our new colleagues to the B&Q family.   Thank you to everyone involved in getting us to this point for all eight stores.    The five UK stores are in Altrincham, Basingstoke, Biggleswade, Leamington Spa and Worcester.   See my previous post for details of the three stores in the Republic of Ireland (Letterkenny, Navan and Waterford) and the link in comments below to the press releases.

Today we have some exciting news – we’ve reached agreements to buy three Homebase stores in the Republic of Ireland, representing strategic additions to our network of eight existing stores in the Republic. We’ll be transforming the stores into new B&Q stores once the acquisition process completes. #BandQ

I’m delighted to share that, today, we’ve announced we’re extending our network of 311 B&Q stores having reached agreements to acquire three Homebase stores in the Republic of Ireland, adding to our existing eight stores there. The move will add over 9,300 square metres selling space in locations that more customers can benefit from. Subject to the usual approvals, we’ll transform the stores into new B&Q stores to bring more customers B&Q’s and TradePoint’s extensive offer of home improvement products and services. This includes our Kingfisher own exclusive brands and our B&Q services, such as our kitchen and bathroom design and installations. We’ll have the usual TradePoint counters, timber cutting, paint mixing, and click & collect alongside our home and bulk delivery at diy.ie. We look forward to welcoming new customers to the stores and our new colleagues to the B&Q family. Thank you to everyone involved in getting us to this point.  The three stores are in Letterkenny, Navan and Waterford. See link in comments to press release.

At B&Q, we’re wanting to make more sustainable choices when it comes to what purchases our customers make. We want to continue to put innovation at the forefront of our approach to helping our customers make more sustainable choices which is why we recently launched our plant pot recycling stations. They allow people to drop off unwanted plastic plant pots which will then be recycled and turned into new pots which are available to buy at B&Q – ensuring plastic materials are continually recycled and reused, reducing waste and environmental impact. Involved in this sustainability initiative were Samantha Dyer and Sanita Garley, and we caught up with them to get some insight into the project and find out their proudest moment when working on it. Today we’ve opened our brand-new B&Q store in Rotherham, South Yorkshire. To celebrate the opening, store manager Nicola Pickering and her team were joined by Rotherham's Mayor Councillor Sheila Cowen and players from Rotherham United Women Football Club who opened the store. Customers were welcomed into the store by the local brass band Dinnington Colliery Band, who kicked off the celebrations with a lively and festive performance. As well as access to over 11,000 products, the new 22,000 sq.ft store includes services such as kitchen, bathroom and bedroom planning and installation; tool hire; timber cutting; paint mixing, Click & Collect. The store also has a garden centre and dedicated TradePoint counter. Nicola and the team look forward to welcoming customers to the store and supporting them with all their DIY projects.

An exciting launch today as we open the doors to our brand-new B&Q store in Rotherham.    Our growth needs stores at its heart, and the opening of the new Rotherham store is an important step in ensuring we make home improvement easier for customers in this area. We are focused on giving customers a retail experience that’s easy and convenient at B&Q. Rotherham has been designed with our retail park format; A 22,000 square foot store housing over 11,000 products as well as a kitchen and bathroom showroom showing off our latest ranges. We also have a dedicated TradePoint counter along with specific van parking to make it easier for the trade to access the products they need. A hugely exciting addition to our portfolio - congratulations to Nicola and her team in launching the new store and all the teams that made the opening a success!

This weekend, colleagues across all of our stores are fundraising for Shelter and its partner charities. B&Q will be match-funding customer donations as well as donating £1 for every Christmas tree sold this year. We're also selling these fantastic Christmas jumpers with all proceeds going to Shelter to continue our commitment of support.  Good luck to everyone for a bumper fundraising weekend from Thierry Garnier and Graham Bell
