The issue of impact damage caused by debris to a trailer due to the higher speeds achieved by today’s tractors is well documented. A year ago, we introduced a high-build, two-pack structural intermediate coating to significantly enhance protection of the headboards of all Bailey trailers. However, debris can sometimes also hit the sides of trailers. In order to enhance protection in these areas, we asked our paint manufacturing partner the Witham Group to evaluate potential improvements. Over a number of months, the Witham chemists put several WOCO 2k primer recipes through their paces performing rigorous trials on steel plates, including specific impact and cross hatching tests. Built to your required length, our Stock Boxes are designed to fit both Bale trailer and Flat Deck ranges. They feature fixed position slam-shut doors, spring assisted loading ramps, extra rear lights and an internal light. The box is easily secured to the trailer by a combination of brackets and ratchet straps, which ensure quick fitting and removal. All livestock trailers have to be supplied with tandem springs as standard. Deluxe models are also available, with section decks, fixed position slam-shut doors, and hydraulic sheep decks. It's vital that you're able to get an accurate load reading on your trailer. Overloading a trailer is dangerous. The manufacturer’s plate shows the unladen weight of the trailer and its maximum permitted gross weight. The load capacity of the trailer is the gross weight minus the unladen weight. Always load by weight not volume. The maximum gross weight in the UK is 18290kg. The gross weight varies by model above 14 tonne payload. ‘Cropweigh’ is designed to provide operators with accurate load readings in the field or on site. Potential overloads are avoided by measuring the payload via heavy-duty hardened steel load sensors, which monitor degrees of body tilt to the left and right. An optional body inclinometer offers greater tipping safety on uneven ground.
